Sonia Ekweremadu: I personally disagree with the Conviction of My Parents (VIDEO)

                               

On Friday, Sonia Ekweremadu, the daughter of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, said she disagreed with her parents' conviction, describing the UK court ruling sentencing them to various jail terms as surprising.

Sonia made this known in an interview with the BBC while reacting to her parents' conviction news.

In the interview, she said, “I and my brother and sister were in the house and the bell rang, and we thought it was our parents but the policemen showed up at the door. They said they arrested me for a crime. My first reaction was shock.

Former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, took a major step toward his ambition of becoming Nigeria’s President by winning the All Progressives Congress’ presidential primary at a special convention held in Eagle Square, Abuja.

A bride-to-be identified as Mary Hananiah has died in Plateau State a few months after her wedding introduction ceremony. It was gathered that Mary passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022. 

The deceased got engaged to her man, DJ John on Valentine's Day 2022 and they had their introduction ceremony in March.

ABUJA | Commercial motorcyclists raid estate, set security post on fire over their colleagues' death

 

Over 100 commercial motorcyclists, popularly called Okada riders, today May 29, invaded the Same Global Estate in the Lokogoma area of Abuja to avenge the death of two colleagues.

According to eyewitnesses, the motorcyclists went on a rampage after two of their colleagues were allegedly knocked down by a motorcyclist in the area, killing them on the spot. The motorcyclist is said to have fled into the estate for safety after a mob threatened to beat him to death.

It was a night of jaw dropping performances and lyrical excellence at Patoranking’s Big Name concert organized by Toro Entertainment Company on the 26th of December 2021 at the Eko Convention Centre 

After over a month's worth of publicity, Patoranking did not disappoint. The reggae dancehall king stepped out on stage with an energetic entrance, made possible by his talented dancers and his reggae live band. He started off the night with one of his classics; Suh Different and then went on to perform his infectious record, "Daniella Whine" from his GOE album which featured Jamaican Dancehall Superstars, Elephant Man and Koshens. Of course, the night would not have been complete without performing I'm in love - but this time however, Patoranking went all out, adding a unique and creative twist to the song.

Miyetti Allah Chairman murdered in Nasarawa State (GRAPHIC PHOTOS)


The chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder in Nasarawa State Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini as been reportedly murderer in Garaku Town yesterday night by unknown gunmen.

A source residing at Garaku, Kokona Local Government said said late yesterday night they heard sporadic gun shots within the area and after a while it was discovered that Alhaji Hussaini and one other was shot dead during the shooting spree.

REPORT | Why NBC Shut AIT, Raypower Indefinitely


The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has put action to its earlier threat by suspening the licence of DAAR Communications Plc, owners of African Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower .

The suspension of the media houses by the regulatory body is until “further notice”.

The Director-General of NBC, Modibbo Kawu announced the shut down at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday evening.

Nechama Rivlin, Israel’s First Lady Is Dead


Israel’s First Lady, Nechama Rivlin, 73, died on Tuesday morning after battling with a respiratory disease for years, the Presidential Residence announced, Igbere TV reports.

She died at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.

Three months ago, Rivlin underwent a lung transplant.

SEC warns Nigerians against Ponzi scheme 'LOOM'


The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has warned Nigerians against fraudsters currently running an online investment scheme tagged “Loom Money Nigeria’’.

Acting Director-General of the commission, Ms. Mary Uduk, gave the warning at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja.

A statement by SEC’s Head of Media, Mrs Efe Ebelo, said that Uduk, who was represented by acting Executive Commissioner, Operations of SEC, Mr. Isyaku Tilde, said Loom Money Nigeria had taken over the social media.

26-year-old Model dies after collapsing on catwalk at fashion


A model has died after becoming sick and falling on the catwalk at Sao Paulo fashion week in Brazil according to report by The Guardian.

A statement from organisers said Tales Soares took ill on Saturday while in a parade of fashion brand Ocksa. A medical team attended to him on the catwalk and Soares was later taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
