Nigerian man who lost his penis to accident welcomes baby girl after transplant


Muhammad Sirajo Musa who lost his penis in an accident while on his way to the prayer ground, during the  2009 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, has welcomed a daughter with his wife after undergoing a penis transplant in an Egyptian hospital.

Musa whose new penis was moulded from extracted muscles from his thigh and arm, as first treated at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria before he was referred to the Egyptian hospital.

Bomb Scare: Bag left at American Embassy not bomb – Nigerian Police


The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Fatai Owoseni, on Thursday said there was no bomb planted at the American Embassy in Lagos.

Owoseni told newsmen that the bag kept in one of the vehicles at the Consular General Office, Victoria Island, only contained medical equipment.

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has cautioned the police over the handling of investigation on the recent crisis in Ile-Ife, Osun State that led to the death of more than 40 people.

He accused the police of displaying ethnic bias in its investigation and this is not good for the unity of Nigeria and its people.

The governor, who condemned the killing of innocent people and destruction of properties in Ile-Ife, said crime must be treated as crime; “whether committed by Yoruba, Ibo, Hausa or any tribe. However, handling of crime must be without ethnic bias.”

80 unemployed graduates benefit from FG’s youth empowerment scheme


The Minister of Water Resources, Mr Suleiman Adamu, on Thursday, said that 80 unemployed youths were benefiting from Federal Government’s Graduate and Youth Empowerment Scheme on irrigation farming.

Adamu, who spoke at the official inauguration of the scheme in Illah, Delta, said that the programme was part of efforts to revitalise the River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAs) to boost the nation’s agricultural production.

Senate on Wednesday rejected the nomination of two out of 47 non-career ambassadorial nominees presented for approval by President Muhammadu Buhari in January.

The affected nominees, who were rejected, based on the report of the Committee on Foreign Affairs are 82 year old Justice Sylvanus Nsofor from Imo State and Mr. Jacob Igbekele Daodu from Ondo State. Justice Sylvanus Adiewere Nsofor, retired as a Justice of Court of Appeal in March 2005, after clocking the mandatory retirement age of 70. He had served as a judge for 28 years with about 13 years spent in the Court of Appeal.

155 more Nigerians deported from Libya


The International Organisation for Migration on Thursday facilitated the evacuation of 155 Nigerians stranded in Libya.

The returnees arrived in a chartered Novelle Air flight at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos at around 6:15 and said they were excited to be home.

Court sentenced killers of Cynthia Osokogu to death


A Lagos State High Court, Igbosere, on Thursday sentenced Okwumo Nwabuzor and his nephew, Olisaeloka Ezike, to death by hanging for killing a postgraduate student, Cynthia Osokogu whom they lured from Nasarawa to Lagos before strangling her in an hotel in Festac Town in 2012.

While delivering the judgement in the case that lasted four yours, the visibly angry judge, Olabisi Akinlade, said the accused deserved the sentence as they were not remorseful of their action, and were my telling the court lies after offering confessional statements to the police.

Group of Nigerian Navy men (no fewer than 10) attached to the NNS Soroh, Gwegwe, in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, have allegedly battered a civil servant with the Bayelsa State’s Board of Internal Revenue, Alexander Ebipadou.

It was learnt that the naval ratings, led by one Seaman A.P. Adamu, were armed with daggers, horsewhips, sticks and belts, among other weapons. They reportedly pounced on Ebipadou, popularly known as Biggie, and beat him to a pulp over an offence he said he knew nothing about.
