Two goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic secured a 2-0 victory for Manchester United away to West Brom on Saturday.

The Sweden star hit his 15th and 16th goals of the season - one in each half - to extend United's run to four wins in a row in all competitions and put them level on points with fifth-place Tottenham in the Premier League.

Ibrahimovic needed only five minutes to make his mark at The Hawthorns, heading in Jesse Lingard's cross to put the visitors ahead, although he was a little fortunate to stay on the pitch beyond the 24th minute after he deliberately barged into Craig Dawson.

Former President GEJ says nobody forced him to concede defeat in 2015 election

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has said that nobody, whether within the country or outside the country, persuaded nor forced him to concede defeat in the 2015 elections that got President Muhammadu Buhari to power. 

The former President said, instead, his decision to concede was borne out of his personal principles and convictions that his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.

Dr. Jonathan gave the statement in a speech, Saturday, at Birmingham University, Nasarawa state, where he was conferred with honourary doctorate degree alongside former military Head of state, Yakubu Gowon. Jonathan also said that his reason for conveying the 2014 National Conference was to come up with a polity that will bring unity in the country as well ensure a country devoid of tension and crisis. ‘’It is my belief that no one’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. 

Former Gov., Orji Uzor Kalu visits IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in prison

Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Friday, paid a visit to the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, where he said the latter did not deserve to be in detention.

Kalu, who recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, posted a picture he had taken with Kanu during his visit to Kuje Prison.

In the post, Kalu said, “Today, I visited Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in Kuje Prison and we engaged in a very long discussion. Kanu is my brother and a son of the soil. He shouldn’t be where he is because Kuje Prison is not his home. It is therefore my utmost concern to see him regain his freedom like every other Nigerian.”

Canadian Isabelle Lagace, 28, and 23-year-old Melina Roberge were part of a seven-member drug cartel aboard the MS Sea Princess as it cruised from New York via Tahiti to Sydney carrying 95kg of cocaine,.

The women, from Quebec, had boarded the luxury cruise ship in Southampton in June.

President Buhari's 74th birthday celebration (VIDEO)

President Muhammadu Buhari today clocked 74 years old and marked his birthday anniversary with a special parade at the Presidential Villa, Abuja and inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by the Nigerian Army.

He was born on 17 December 1942 in Daura, Katsina State.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that President Buhari also cut a birthday cake and released 74 pigeons from a cage as part of the activities marking the anniversary.

Buhari calls for review of Treaty as he hosts ECOWAS leaders in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has stressed the need to review the ECOWAS Treaty in order to make the regional organisation more responsive to new national, regional and global challenges.

The president made the call at the opening of the 50th Ordinary Session of the Authority and Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, held in Abuja on Saturday.

He also called for the speedy conclusion of the reforms of all ECOWAS institutions to put ECOWAS on a much stronger footing and to prepare member nations for the challenges of such Institutional reforms.

The Ebonyi Police Command has confirmed the crushing of a skater by an articulated vehicle in Abakaliki, on Friday evening.

Mr Jude Madu, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the accident on Saturday, noting that investigations into it had begun.

According to him, the deceased had been identified and more information on the accident would be released next week.
