LIB report about the horrific accident along Ikorodu road, Lagos this morning which occur between Onipanu and Palmgrove bus-stop. Two trucks carrying load collided. The driver and passenger of one of the trucks died on the spot. The other truck driver survived and escaped from the scene. Another accident also happened close to this scene, at Aladiyye bus-stop on Ikorodu Road. A container fell on a car but thankfully no casualties in that accident.

Joe Jackson suffered three heart attacks

Joe Jackson reportedly suffered three heart attacks as well as a suspected stroke on his 87th birthday. The showbiz patriarch - whose children include Janet Jackson and the late Michael Jackson - was admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil over the weekend

His publicist told TMZ that Joe's heart stopped beating for 10 seconds and he had a pacemaker inserted. He originally lost his vision after an artery burst behind his eye- which is believed to have caused the stroke.

WAEC threatens to withhold results of students in some states over N4bn debt

The West Africa Examinations Council, WAEC has threatened to withhold the results of students in 19 states that sat for the May/June 2015 WASSCE over nonpayment of candidates’ registration fees by their state governments.

Different state Governments had pledged to pay the WAEC fees of their state residents as part of their education policy but have so far failed to do so.

The Head of National Office WAEC, Mr Charles Eguridu made the threat at a press conference today July 27th. He said the state governments are indebted to WAEC to the tune of N4 billion.

Family says Dieziani Alison-Madueke is ill & in UK hospital

Stephen Keshi demands N1billion compensation from NFF

Super Eagles Former coach Stephen Keshi is demanding N1billion compensation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for defaming him. According to Vanguard, Keshi has dragged the NFF to court for “wrongful dismissal and defamation”. A top source told said

“Keshi’s lawyers have demanded for a billion Naira from the NFF as compensation for defaming their client.”

A letter from Keshi's lawyers was sent to NFF on Friday July 24th. Keshi was sacked by the NFF on July 5 just four months after he'd signed a new two-year contract to coach the Super Eagles.

Bobbi Kristina Brown has died aged 22 - six months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub.

 

The aspiring singer was rushed to hospital and placed in a medically-induced coma on January 31 after she was discovered face-down in the water-filled tub at her townhouse in Roswell, Geo

She passed away, surrounded by her family, at the hospice on Sunday - just 3 years after her famous mother, singer Whitney Houston, died aged 48 in a bathtub at a hotel in Beverly Hills.

There was a bomb explosion in Mogadishu, the Somali Capital this afternoon July 25th. The massive explosion targeted Jazeera hotel close to UN compound, in Mogadishu. The source was a car laden with explosives. (left is what is left of the hotel). At least 6 people have been confirmed dead.

Only yesterday, Somalia’s Al-Shabaab insurgents assassinated a lawmaker, Abdulahi Hussein Muhamud and his guards.

Mrs Cordelia Iweg­buna Idowu Okocha was 50 when she died of breast cancer, on August 7, 2004, and was buried in Septem­ber 2004. However,4 years after her death, she ‘visited’ her bank and withdrew more than N527,500 from her savings account in a first generation bank (name withheld).

The statement of account of the dead woman indicated that she withdrew N500,000 by ‘self ’ on February 19, 2008. On Febru­ary 28, 2008, she made another withdrawal of N27,500 by ‘self’. She made all the withdrawals at the Awolowo Road branch of the bank.

 She was survived by her only child, Chukwudi Uche Okocha who was 17 at the time of his mother's death. He said:

President Buhari: "Ministers Won't Award Contracts Again"

As part of the ongoing reform of several strata of the Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that ministers won’t be having the luxury of awarding contracts or getting corrupt in how contracts are awarded.

Speaking with journalists in Washington DC during his four-day visit to the United States, Buhari said ministers would no longer have power to award contracts.

13 year old student murdered in cold blood

Palpable anxiety has gripped Umuagaragu, Enyiogugu community in Aboh Mbaise local council area of Imo State, following the gruesome murder of Uzoma Okerenkwo, a 13-year old JSS 2 student of Logara High School, Ngor Okpala, by unknown assassins.

Fear and apprehension enveloped the entire community soon after the lifeless body of Uzoma was discovered along a bush path close to his home.

A villager, who spoke on strict grounds of anonymity, told Vanguard that “Uzoma’s throat was mercilessly slashed by the assassins”.

Governor Oshiomhole says “No state government has gotten one naira from the bailout”

Adams Oshiomhole, Governor of Edo State says that no state in the country has received any money from the Federal Government as bailout fund. The governor said this on on Saturday, July 25, at a reception for the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase in Sabongida Ora, Owan West Local Government Area of the state.

Boko Haram kills 25 in Adamawa in fresh new attack

A bloody and terrifying raid by Boko Haram on Friday left at least 25 people dead in three villages in eastern Nigeria's Adamawa state, according to residents and a local government official. Adamawa state borders Borno state, Boko Haram's birth place and main stronghold.

Storming in on motorcycles, the gunmen attacked the neighboring villages of Kopa, Maikadire and Yaffa around 9 a.m. local time, shooting and killing residents, according to witnesses and local government chairman Maina Ularamu.
