Rihanna sign lucrative deal to become face of Dior's new collection

Congratulations Riri! Pop star Rihanna has added another lucrative sponsorship deal to her portfolio, and not just any brand: the Barbadian singer is the new face of a Dior advertising campaign.

The French fashion house confirmed to AFP on Monday that Rihanna is "the new guest star for our 'Secret Garden' campaign", a promotional video and print series shot at the famous Versailles Palace outside Paris.

In the production, made last week by US photographer Steven Klein, the 27-year-old star shows off Dior's new "Esprit Dior Tokyo" collection. The campaign will be screened within the next couple of months.

The "Secret Garden" campaign has been running for three years, and is mostly meant for online viewing.

The Dior spokeswoman declined to give details about Rihanna's contract or how long she would be endorsing the house's collection.

Dior has tapped other celebrities to sell its products, including Israeli-US actress Natalie Portman, who fronts its Miss Dior perfume line, and Oscar-winning French actress Marion Cotillard, who promoted its Lady Dior handbags.

APC Governorship aspirant in Kogi state dies in fatal accident

What a tragic new! APC Governorship aspirant in Kogi state, AbdulAziz Omeiza Aliyu and his younger brother, Salmanu Adeiza Aliyu lost their lives in a fatal road accident that occurred at Jere town along Kaduna – Abuja federal highway yesterday March 14th.

A family spokesman, Abubakar Aliyu said the 36 year old politician was returning from Abuja to Kogi with his younger brother when the chattered vehicle they were riding in got involved in the accident. All occupants in the car died.

According to UK Daily Mail a Peasant farmer Yu Zhilin and his son Yu Lingyun use pieces of scrap metal they have collected from disused cars in Hengyang in China to construct huge robots, similar to the characters of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee who appeared in the multi-million pound films using instructions downloaded from the internet. They have just sold an army of the metal robots for almost one million RMB (£110,0000) constructed in their own makeshift workshop.

APC accuses President GEJ of sponsoring ethnic militias to disrupt elections

The opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, through is National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed release a statement which accuse Goodluck Jonathan Administration of sponsoring ethnic militias to foment trouble before, during and after the forthcoming general elections.

A Police Officer and four others die in Abuja road crash

Five persons, including a riot police officer and a woman, died in an auto crash at NICON junction, Abuja on Friday, when a red Nissan Sunny was crushed by a blue truck carrying sand chippings.

Seven others, including passers-by, also sustained varying degrees of injuries during the incident which caused a traffic gridlock along the busy Berger Road.

The injured persons were rushed to various hospitals while the dead were taken to the National Hospital morgue.

Checks indicated that the car was crushed and it took some time for men of the Federal Road Safety Corps and others to retrieve the bodies of the victims from the mangled car.
