You can’t be too smart for God - Makarfi to PDP members


Chairman, National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ahmed Makarfi has enjoined party members to be guided by the principles of mutual accommodation and the knowledge that power comes from God. Makarfi stated this yesterday while inaugurating caretaker committees for Lagos and Kwara States at the PDP national secretariat, Abuja.

According to him, knowledge of the infinite power of God to give and take would enable people to live together with little or no rift. “Power comes from God; In whatever we do, let us be guided by this singular knowledge. You can’t be too smart for God. You can’t be too rich or too poor. You must always have mutual accommodation for one another. This guiding principle will make it easier for us to live with one another,” Makarfi counselled.

Lagos State: Bullion Van Loaded With Millions Of Naira Catches Fire


A bullion van loaded with an unspecified amount of Money Went Up in flames on Tuesday Around 2:30 pm under Ojota bridge, Lagos.

Report indicates the van was driving inward toll gate, apparently to disburse the money in some banks when the unexpected happened. The exact cause of the fire which could not be immediately ascertained.

Bus Passengers And Drivers Abducted In River State


Suspected kidnappers have hijacked a commercial bus and abducted 11 passengers and its driver, in Rivers State.

The bandits struck, on Monday night, in Ndele-Elele axis of East-West road, in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

According to Daily Sun, the victims boarded the bus at Rumuokoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area at about 7:00p.m in Port Harcourt and were travelling to Ndele, Elele and Ahoada, respectively.

IPOB Dares President Buhari To Re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu


The secessionist group, Indigenous Peoples Of Biafra (IPOB), has dared the Federal Government of Nigeria to attempt to re-arrest its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB’s challenge came as a response to an appeal by Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, asking for the revocation of a court order that granted bail to Mr. Kanu. The minister also advocated the re-arrest and detention of the IPOB leader pending the determination of the charges against him.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen over N8, 627,458,773.36 billion in three accounts of Hajiya Muinat Bola Shagaya, an associate and friend of a former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan.

Shagaya’s relationship with about 10 firms/account names are also being investigated by the anti-graft agency, it was learnt yesterday.

Farmers group expresses worries over alleged importation of maize into Nigeria

The Nigeria Farmers Group and Cooperative Society (NFGCS) has expressed deep worries over the alleged massive importation of maize into the country by Olam Group, a leading multi-national Agri-business operating from seed to shelf with branches across Nigeria.

The National Coordinator of the NFGCS, Mr Redson Tedheke, in an interview with Newsmen in Abuja on Friday, decried the development, describing it as a major threat to local production of maize.
