5-year-old baby whose head is three times the normal size dies

A five-year-old Indian girl with a rare condition which caused her head to swell to twice its normal size has died. Roona Begum, who made international headlines after images of her condition first appeared in 2013, passed away on Sunday at her home in a village in remote northeastern India.

The girl’s mother, said she developed breathing difficulties and was rushed to hospital, but died on the way. Roona had been just days away from a fresh round of surgeries in an attempt to return her head to normal size.

A 22-year-old boy, David on Wednesday confessed that himself, his father and six others collectively planned the kidnap of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hon. Olumide Odimayo, who was killed by kidnappers on Monday.

David and his 45-year-old father, Francis Bekewei and six others were paraded by the Ondo State police command for complicity and murder of Odimayo.

Former Vice President, Atiku denies holding Presidential campaign meeting ahead of 2019

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports that the All Progressives Congress, APC, Enugu State Chapter shunned a purported presidential campaign parley called by Integrity Group, which is linked to him.

A statement signed by Atiku’s Media Office stressed that, “the so-called Integrity Group is not known to Atiku Abubakar, the Atiku Media Office and the supposedly held parley by the group, is not known to the former Vice President.”

The Speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Rurum, has denied a media report that he received N100m bribe to suspend the probe of Emir of Kano, Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II.

Rurum, on Tuesday in Kano, dismissed as false and an attempt to tarnish his image, the report by an online medium.

He also gave the medium one week within which to retract the report and apologise to the State Assembly or face legal action.

In a statement released yesterday, the group listed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex Gombe state governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, Sokoto state governor Aminu Tambuwal, Senator Bala Muhammed and Alhaji Tanimu Turaki, as respectable presidential candidates from the North while other politicians who made the list include Senate President, Bukola Saraki, former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido, Kaduna state governor Nasir El-rufai, former Kano State governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Borno State governor Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, Borno state governor Ibrahim Shettima and Zamfara state governor Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari.

Pregnant woman crushed to death after falling onto railway tracks (Graphic Photos)

A pregnant woman was crushed to death by an approaching Airport Rail Link train at Ban Thap Chang Station in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday morning, June 19.

The victim identified as Rossarin Plianla fell onto the tracks of the Airport Rail Link at about 7am, just as a train was arriving. She was immediately hit by the train and died instantly. She was six months pregnant.

A serial car thief was arrested in Akenfa, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State over the weekend during a stop-and-search operation, after previous arrests and detentions in Port Harcourt and Warri.

The suspect, John Andrew, a dismissed soldier admitted to being a member of a syndicate responsible for snatching vehicles with master keys in Bayelsa and other states across the country.

South African teenagers filmed trying to rape girl in school premises

Three teenage boys appeared in court on Monday on rape charges after a video emerged showing a trio of youths sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the South African city of Bloemfontein, the prosecution said.

The boys aged 15, 16 and 17 years were arrested after the video was posted on social media last week. It showed two youths in school uniform fondling and trying to forcibly kiss the girl on school premises, local media said.
