Forner Leicester City Coach, Claudio Ranieri joins Nantes


Italian Claudio Ranieri is the new coach of Nantes, the Ligue 1 side said on Tuesday, just four months after he was sacked by Leicester City.

Nantes had to ask for and received special dispensation from French league officials to hire the popular Italian as he has reached the manager’s age limit of 65.

Lagos state Govt denies plan to replace MKO Abiola's statues at Ojota


The Lagos State Government on Tuesday refuted reports that it was planning to replace the statues of the late Chief MKO Abiola and the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi at the Ojota parks with another monument.

Acting Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinshola, while reacting to a media report that the State was planning to replace the statues, said the ongoing remodeling of both parks was to accommodate bigger sculptures of the two prominent Nigerians.

The Niger Government has described former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, as a patriot who laid the foundation for the current democracy in the country.

The government expressed the view in a statement in Minna on Tuesday, issued by Mr Jonathan Vatsa, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, to mark Abubakar’s 75tth birthday.

BREAKING: One Shot as Supporters of Senator Dino Melaye and Kogi Governor Clash in Gun Battle

The supporters of the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaha Bello, and that of the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, are currently involved in a clash in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

According to a report by Punch newspaper, Dino Melaye who had arrived in Lokoja to address his supporters on his recall from the Senate attracted gunshots from his supporters and those of the state governor that lasted for over one hour.

Imo bank robbery: NBA to sue Police, Zenith Bank for abandoning victim’s family

The Owerri branch of Nigerian Bar Association on Monday said that it would sue the Nigeria Police Force and Zenith Bank for allegedly abandoning the family of heroic Police Sergeant, Chukwudi Iboko, who died during the February 22, 2017, robbery which took place at the Wetheral Road branch of Zenith bank in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Sergeant Iboko, who killed one of the four armed robbers in the attack, suffered severe gunshot injuries and died the next day in a police clinic in Owerri after he was allegedly rejected at the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.
