We are not Nigerians - Southeast Nigeria on shut-down as Biafra marks 50 years

Shops, schools and businesses were shut in southeast Nigeria on Tuesday, 50 years to the day since the independent Republic of Biafra was declared, sparking a brutal civil war.

In Onitsha, the economic hub of Anambra state on the banks of the River Niger, most markets were closed and the streets were largely empty of people and traffic.

AS Roma said Tuesday that it had parted ways with Luciano Spalletti, just two days after the coach had guided the team to Champions League football next season.

Suicide bomber hits Ice cream shop, kills 16

A suicide bombing at a popular Baghdad ice cream shop killed at least 16 people, officials said Tuesday, an attack claimed by the Islamic State group.
