Governor Tambuwal says he's ready to sacrifice his 2nd term bid over verification exercise

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has maintained that the ongoing verification exercise at the state and local government levels would continue even if it would cost him his second term bid.

In an interactive session with newsmen as part of the activities marking his two years in office, the Governor reiterated that he owed nobody apology over the exercise because "we believe we are doing the right thing."

Thomas Tuchel will leave Borussia Dortmund after two years in charge, with the club thanking him for his work as they confirmed his departure.

82 Chibok girls released to remain with Ministry of Women Affairs till September


The Ministry of Women Affair has now received the 82 chibok girls for further rehabilitation. Receiving the girls who were recently released by Boko Haram insurgents, the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, said they will undergo four months rehabilitation in the properties available in the Ministry Women Affairs headquarters.

Suicide bomber hits Ice cream shop, kills 16

A suicide bombing at a popular Baghdad ice cream shop killed at least 16 people, officials said Tuesday, an attack claimed by the Islamic State group.

The overnight bombing in the Karrada district in central Baghdad also wounded 75 people, officials said.

IS issued a statement claiming the attack, identifying the bomber as an Iraqi who detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle targeting Shiite Muslims.

Dead toll rises to 22 in Manchester suicide bomber attack


The death toll from an explosion outside an Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester Arena has risen to 22, according to Greater Manchester Police. The attacker, who police believe was a suicide bomber, also died in the attack.

British families were left desperately hoping for word of their children's safety following a suspected terror attack outside the Ariana Grande pop concert at the Manchester Arena Monday night.
