SHOCKING! Lifeless body spotted floating on River Niger (Photos)


According to reports, an unidentified female corpse was seen floating on  River Niger, at Onitsha main market. People who gathered to look believed she might have been drowned because it rained the previous night while others insisted she was murdered and pushed into the river.

CBN bans 17 banks from forex market


In response to persistent complaints that some Deposit Money Banks have deliberately frustrated efforts by many Small and Medium Enterprises to access forex from the new window created by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, the apex Bank barred all but eight banks from dealing in the SME wholesale forex window.

The financial regulator, it was gathered, took the decision to bar the erring banks based on field reports, which revealed that only eight banks had sold forex to the SMEs segment since the inception of the new window.

AFCON: NFF rejects South Africa request to postponed qualifiers match


The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers date of June 10 won’t be shifted despite a request from South Africa for the tie to be moved forward.

The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) wants the tie to be brought forward to enable them fix a friendly game before their players depart to their respective clubs.

A Delta State University, DELSU, Student, Oleh Campus, Ezechie Ifeanyi recently disarmed a suspected armed robber identified as Ukiri Akpoghene (21-year-old) around Palufe Area, Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

A locally made cut to size gun was allegedly recovered from the suspect who was later handed over to the Police at Oleh.

Super Eagles Franco-German coach Gernot Rohr has expressed concerns that the Super Eagles Assistant Captain, Ahmed Musa, is not psychologically ready for the forthcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier against South Africa in Uyo next month.

The United Labour Congress (ULC), on Monday, described the power sector as a national embarrassment.

Labour lamented that Nigerians still do not enjoy interrupted electricity supply four years after the private sector took over from the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

ULC, President, Comrade Joe Ajearo, in his May Day speech in Lagos, also wondered why government was celebrating less than 4,000mw, when consumers were forced to pay estimated electricity bills against the promise of the new owners of the companies.

MTN Nigeria explains why they sacked 280 of their workers

It was earlier reported this morning that the Mobile Telecommunications Company sacked about 280 of its workers across its different operational units in Nigeria. Well, the company has explained why it sacked hundreds of its workers who have served the company for five years and more.

In a statement signed by MTN’s Spokesperson, Funsho Aina, the company said it sacked some of its workers in order to increase opportunities for professionals with fresh perspectives.

Pandemonium in Ondo community over soldiers, militants’ clash

Following the clash between the troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation Delta Safe and a militant group at Ajakpa creek in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, which led to the death of the leader of the militant group, Ossy Ibori, some of residents of the community have reportedly left the community.

No fewer than three soldiers and 15 members of the militant group lost their lives while several others were seriously injured in a gun battle which occurred Monday morning.  Although, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Centre, Abubakar Abdullah, said in that only one soldier was killed in the battle.

Woman can’t tackle Fulani herdsmen – Agatu people reject APC candidate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue, today, staged a protest, rejecting Mrs Comfort Echoda as their candidate in the forthcoming local council election.

The protesters alleged that due to incessant attacks on the community by Fulani herdsmen, a woman was incapable of piloting the affairs of the area creditably.

Although the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed had explained that Buhari needed time to rest and would work from home, the president who has not appeared at any public function for a while now resumed at his office on Tuesday.

Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has responded to his political opponents who have been accusing him of sleeping at public functions. He said, he won't bow to blackmailers who said he was not working but sleeping.

Speaking during an interactive session with labour unions as part of May Day celebration at the Government House, Kano, on Monday, he said that his critics could not differentiate between sleeping and pretending.

Cairo attack: Three policemen confirm dead


The Ministry of Interior says militants on Tuesday killed three policemen and injured five others in a shooting in Cairo.

The ministry in a statement said the attacks on security forces are common in Egypt’s northern Sinai, where the country is battling an Islamist insurgency, but targeted assaults in Cairo are rare.

The ministry said the shooting comes amid a campaign by militants to spread violence to the country’s mainland.

Magistrate Court in Jigawa State has remanded a former governor of the state, Sule Lamido, in prison custody.


The Chief Magistrate, Usman Lamin, said in his ruling that Lamido would be in the Dutse prison until May 4 when applications for his bail were decided.

Lagos Rescues 237 Abandoned Babies In One Year


The Lagos State government said it rescued 237 abandoned babies from across the metropolis in the last one year. The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists in Alausa.

The abandoned babies comprise 106 male and 131 female. Akinbile-Yussuf said the figure was higher than the 149 children rescued in year 2015, while adding that between January this year to date, a total of 53 children have been rescued.

Senate President says those found culpable In Queens College Students’ death Will be prosecuted


Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Saraki, has vowed to ensure that those found culpable in the death of three students of Queens College, Lagos, are prosecuted, describing the development as unfortunate.
