After 12 Years, adopted Ekiti Children Reunite with Family in Netherlands

Two Ekiti State indigenes who were adopted by a Dutch couple 12 years ago  have pleaded with the state government to place a high premium on the upkeep of the children in orphanages.

The duo said this thursday when  their foster parents,  Donald and Gertruda Boots, brought them home to familiarise them with their immediate relatives.

Lagos Rescues 237 Abandoned Babies In One Year

The Lagos State government said it rescued 237 abandoned babies from across the metropolis in the last one year. The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, disclosed this yesterday while briefing journalists in Alausa.

The abandoned babies comprise 106 male and 131 female. Akinbile-Yussuf said the figure was higher than the 149 children rescued in year 2015, while adding that between January this year to date, a total of 53 children have been rescued.

INEC to extend Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to grassroots

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it  may expand its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) closer to the grassroots for easy access to registration centres.

This was disclosed by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu  said this while flagging on the registration at the Karu Area Council office of Federal Capital Territory, that more than 4,000 staff were deployed nationwide.

Lagos State Government Seals Church For Contravening Building Law

Federal Court grants Nnamdi Kanu bail

The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday admitted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to bail on health grounds.

Two female suicide bombers shot dead, one blows self up in Borno

Operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, on Monday morning killed two female suicide bombers while the third blew herself up in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The female bombers attempted to enter the city through Mamanti village in Jere Local Government Area at about 5.10 a.m but were shot dead before detonating the explosive devices strapped to their bodies.
