Prostitute, nurse, 2 others arrested in Katsina for selling 4 months old baby


The Police in Katsina State have arrested four people for allegedly selling a four months old baby at the cost of N200, 000.

The suspects includes a senior nurse with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), the 18-year-old biological mother of the boy and alleged prostitute, Aisha Idris, one Hauwa Ibrahim, 32, of Kofar Kaura and Mrs Grace Ohuhu, of Uba-Kala town, Abia state.

Lagos State Government Seals Church For Contravening Building Law


The Lagos State Government has sealed a popular Lekki based Church, ‘This Present House’, for constructing without title documents and requisite building permit in contravention of the Lagos State Regional and Urban Planning Law 2010.

In a press release issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Wasiu Anifowose, the government stated that it would not fold its arms and watch a brazen contravention of the law that could result in endangering the lives and property of Lagos state residents.

Federal Court grants Nnamdi Kanu bail


The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday admitted the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to bail on health grounds.

In a brief ruling, Justice Binta Nyako, said that she was convinced that Kanu was ill and needed more medical attention than the Nigerian Prisons was giving him.

Two female suicide bombers shot dead, one blows self up in Borno


Operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, on Monday morning killed two female suicide bombers while the third blew herself up in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The female bombers attempted to enter the city through Mamanti village in Jere Local Government Area at about 5.10 a.m but were shot dead before detonating the explosive devices strapped to their bodies.

A major crackdown on tax evaders is on the way, Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said yesterday.

They will be named and shamed – in a desperate move to improve the tax to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) ratio and expose evaders.

The minister, who spoke at the end of the 2017 IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, said Nigeria has the worst tax to GDP of six per cent in the world, as only 13 million people pay their taxes.

Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, has reassured Nigerians that the cash recoveries being made by agencies of government in President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption drive will not be re-looted.

Fielding questions at a press conference on the World Bank, IMF meetings in Washington, Adeosun said the country now has a single account for reconciling recovered funds, to avoid re-looting.
