Dr Allwell Orji’s remains were recovered around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, around the CMS area of the lagoon by officers of the Lagos State Police marine.

Governor Amosun: Wife-beaters in Ogun will be treated as criminals
The Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has declared war on men who beat their wives in the state.
The Governor on Wednesday said any man found guilty will face prosecution and be treated as criminals in the state, going forward.
Amosun gave this declaration when he spoke at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, after an advocacy walk against gender-based violence organized by Women Arise in conjunction with the state government.

An Ado-Ekiti oil dealer, Chief Remi Oguntuase, (aka Remog) has described the demolition of his filling station under construction as “politically motivated, malicious and act of vendetta” by Governor Ayo Fayose.
Oguntuase popularly known in social and political circles as REMOG said he had valid papers and received clearance from regulatory agencies before he started constructing the demolished station located on Ilawe Road in Irona area of Ado Ekiti.

A 28-year-old housewife, Olotu Chizoba, who allegedly assaulted a co-tenant by beating her to a pulp, was on Wednesday arraigned before Magistrate O. Sule-Amzat sitting at Ogudu, Lagos.

Twitter shut down 636,000 accounts
Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) said on Tuesday it had suspended 636,000 accounts since the middle of 2015 as the company steps up efforts to tackle “violent extremism” on its microblogging platform.
The company shut down a total of 376,890 accounts in the last six months of 2016, Twitter said in its latest transparency report.

INEC cancels manual transfer of 2019 results
As part of its preparations for the 2019 election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has canceled manual transmission of results from polling units.
It will now use e-Collation and Result Transmission System in all the 120, 000 polling units.
The commission opted for the new result transmission system after a three-year trial or test run during by-elections and rerun elections.
Governor Fayose demolishes three filling stations in Ekiti
There was tension in parts of Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, yesterday as three filling stations under construction were demolished allegedly on the orders of Governor Ayo Fayose.
The incident happened few hours after members of the state chapter of Petrol Dealers Association of Nigeria (PEDAN) suspended their two-day strike, following the intervention of traditional rulers.
The uncompleted filling stations were demolished for allegedly being located in residential areas.
Makarfi accuses Sheriff of plotting to hijack PDP for 2019 presidential bid
The Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has warned that the party’s court-backed National Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff, cannot be trusted to conduct a convention for the PDP.
At a news conference in Abuja yesterday, spokesman for the Makarfi camp, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said if allowed to conduct the convention, Sheriff would plant his cronies in strategic positions for his selfish end.
