A barber, Gbenga Akinade, on Friday at an Ibadan Grade C Customary Court, secured the dissolution of his six-year-old marriage on grounds of infidelity.

Gbenga had told the court that his wife, Busayo, had sex with her former husband on his (Gbenga’s) matrimonial bed, adding that he could no longer tolerate her adulterous way.

Obasanjo did not storm out of our event - Police


Contrary to reports, former President Olusegun Obasanjo did not storm out of an event organised by the Nigeria police in Lagos yesterday, the police claimed Friday.

The police was reacting to widespread reports that Mr. Obasanjo stormed out of a capacity-building event organised by the police because the organisers were behind schedule.

The reports said Mr. Obasanjo condemned the organisers for keeping him waiting and admonished them to always be ready before they call him to a public function.

Oh No! Man commits suicide over wife's infidelity


A 29-year-old man identified as Temi Faruok has committed suicide after he claimed his wife, Amina poisoned his food in order to keep her alleged lover who happens to be their landlord.

The incident happened at Iya Meta Street in Orisumbare, Shasha area of Lagos.

According to P.M. Express, the late Faruok had complained that his wife poisoned his food which affected his health that had deteriorated all because she wanted to continue with her secret romance with their landlord, an allegation Amina denied.

Fuel scarcity Alerts: IPMAN threatens to shut stations

 

There may be fuel scarcity in six states of the country, after the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), expressed its displeasure over the “unfriendly business environment” caused by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

IPMAN also claimed private depots were selling petroleum products above government regulated prices.

The European Parliament has voted to end visa-free travel for Americans within the EU.

It comes after the US failed to agree visa-free travel for citizens of five EU countries – Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Poland and Romania – as part of a reciprocity agreement. US citizens can normally travel to all countries in the bloc without a visa.

UN sets up relief fund to save 8.5million Nigerians trapped in Northeast


The United Nations have given at least 8.5 million Nigerians trapped in the North Eastern part of the country who are in urgent need of life-saving relief and protection.

FG launches guidelines for HIV prevention


In an effort to checkmate the spread of HIV/AIDS in the country, the Federal Government has launched the 2016 National Guidelines for HIV Prevention, Treatment and care.

According to the press release sent to Nigerian Pilot by the Director, Media & Public Relations of the ministry, Boade Akinola the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire who formally launched the Guidelines in Abuja Thursday said that the event marked the culmination of an arduous journey that Nigeria embarked upon since 2001, searching for a stable and sustainably system for the delivery of HIV/AIDS services in the country.

President Trump orders probe of Democrats Schumer, Pelosi Russia ties


U.S. President Donald Trump hit back on Democrats on Friday, ordering “an immediate investigation” into Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer’s own ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He also called for similar investigation against the House of  Representatives Minority Leader, Nancy  Pelosi.

Trump tweeted a photo on Friday of Schumer’s meeting with Putin in New York in 2003 and the picture showed them drinking coffee and eating donuts.

Passengers stranded as Aero Contractors cancels flight from Sokoto


Almost 100 Aero Contractors passengers booked to travel from Sokoto to Lagos and Abuja on Friday were left stranded at the airport after their flights were cancelled at the last minute.

No reason was given for the cancellation of the flight, which was scheduled to depart Sa’ad Abubakar 111 International Airport at 1.30 p.m.

Anti-Corruption Body hails Osinbajo for admitting that every arm of government is corrupt


The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, CACOL, through its Executive Chairman, Mr. Debo Adeniran, has called on the Federal Government to purge the three arms of government of corruption.

The group said the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary arms of the federal government were seriously corrupt.

Adeniran stated this while appreciating the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo for his acknowledging that there was corruption in all the arms of government.

23-year-old student sent to prison for raping 9-year-old orange seller


A 23-year-old student, Muhammad Sani was on Friday remanded in prison for alleged defilement.

Sani was arraigned in a Kano Magistrates’ Court for allegedly raping a 9-year-old orange seller.

Sani resides at Dawanau Quarters, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano.
