Call It What You Like, Budget-Padding Will Continue - APC Reps Leader Says

An APC federal lawmaker representing Lagos state has said that it is a legislative malpractice for a lawmaker to sit back and do nothing when a national budget that does not make provisions for his constituency, is being appropriated.

While speaking during an exclusive interview on Channels TV that was anchored by Seun Okinbaloye, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, reportedly said that irrespective of the nomenclature given to the act of budget-padding, the National Assembly will continue to pad the budget for certain reasons.

Dollars Continues Freefall Downwards As CBN Pumps $180m Into Forex Market

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) injected another $180 million into the foreign exchange market, prompting the Naira to further appreciate by N10 against the dollar in the parallel market.

Details of the foreign exchange supply showed that the apex bank injected $100m into the wholesale forwards segment of the market and sold an additional $80m into the banks specifically for the settlement of dollar demand for school fees, medicals and Personal Travel Allowance (PTA), among others.

Tagged the Gas Revolution Industrial Park, GRIP, Ogidigben, and envisaged to be a regional hub for all gas-based industries, the project will cover 2700 hectares with fertilizer, methanol, petrochemicals, & aluminium plants located in the park that has already been designated as a Tax Free Zone by the FG.

Nigerian Music icon, Innocent Idibia,A.K.A Tuface, has donated N3.5 million to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Nigeria, to support humanitarian interventions.

The commission disclosed this in a statement issued by Mr Hanson Tamfu, External Relations Officer, UNHCR, Nigeria, on Monday in Abuja.

He said the donation from the 2face Foundation was to support the commission in providing life-saving support to families forcibly displaced in Nigeria and across the continent.
