You might not know, but most of the popular areas we pass through in Lagos every day have history behind their names. Here’s the history behind some popular areas in Lagos as shared by Abiyamo's post on Facebook.

1. Ojota

Ojota used to be a military settlement in the late 18th century and soldiers practised their shooting there. The area had several gun firing spots and became known as “Oju Ota” in Yoruba which means “Bullet spots”. It later metamorphosed into Ojota which it is called now.

The trial has been fixed for June and more evidence was hauled to the United Kingdom at the weekend.

Part of the evidence are the proceedings of a Federal High Court in respect of the order of final forfeiture of $153million allegedly traced to the ex-minister.

It was also learnt that one of the suspects had been found at a hideout in London and placed under surveillance.

Three weeks after Prof. Maduike Ezeibe of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Abia State claimed to have discovered a cure for Human Immuno-deficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Spanish scientists over the weekend said five patients living with the disease are virus-free seven months after taking a new vaccine.

According to a study published in New Scientist, the treatment, developed by researchers in Spain, allowed the patients to stop taking regular antiretroviral (ARV) drugs – the current method of suppressing HIV.

Meek Mill who liked a video of  Remy Ma punching Nicki Minaj, was accused of disrespecting women who gave him life, by The Game. He was also accused of planning the robbery attack at Nicki's house.

DSS arrests Ex-Governor Suswam after recovering guns, 45 exotic car keys, 21 C of O, others in his Car

A former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.

The ex-governor was arrested over items recovered inside cars in a building in Abuja, reportedly belonging to him.

DSS in a statement by its spokesman, Tony Opuiyo on Sunday, said the search of the building at 44, Aguiyi Ironsi Way, Maitama, Abuja, led to the discovery of keys of 45 exotic cars, 21 Certificates of Occupancy, arms and ammunition.

4,000 Osun Varsity Students Risk Expulsion Over Non-payment Of Fees

About 4,000 students of Osun State University may be expelled for failing to pay their school fees before the February 28, 2017 deadline set by the authorities of the institution.

The affected students may also miss the first-semester examination scheduled to begin on March 6.

The management of the university disclosed this in a statement by the Corporate Affairs Unit yesterday.

Federal Government Summons NFF Over CAF Election
