Drama! Police Officers Run for Their Lives During Bank Robbery in Asaba


Police officers have escaped for their lives in a Delta State community after robbers stormed the area to raid a bank.

There was pandemonium, on Monday, in Asaba, Delta State capital, when a gang of five armed robbers stormed a branch of an old generation bank in an attempt to rob a customer who had come to the bank deposit huge sum of money, the Sun News reports.

Rivers Rerun: INEC confirms outbreak of violence, says 25 workers hospitalized


The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Monday confirmed the outbreak of violence in the just concluded Rivers supplementary elections held on Saturday in Etche that lead to the hospitalization of over 25 of its workforce.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak, told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the victims were attacked and wounded by Rivers people.

According to him, one of the victims regained consciousness on Sunday.

Reginalda a 20-year-old woman from Soysambus sub-location in Ndalu Bungoma County, Kenya is currently hospitalized after her mother-in-law allegedly poured acid on her legs and tied her to a pole inside a room for two weeks to rot.

1. Ojota

Ojota used to be a military settlement in the late 18th century and soldiers practised their shooting there. The area had several gun firing spots and became known as “Oju Ota” in Yoruba which means “Bullet spots”. It later metamorphosed into Ojota which it is called now.

Three weeks after Prof. Maduike Ezeibe of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Abia State claimed to have discovered a cure for Human Immuno-deficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS), Spanish scientists over the weekend said five patients living with the disease are virus-free seven months after taking a new vaccine.

According to a study published in New Scientist, the treatment, developed by researchers in Spain, allowed the patients to stop taking regular antiretroviral (ARV) drugs – the current method of suppressing HIV.

DSS arrests Ex-Governor Suswam after recovering guns, 45 exotic car keys, 21 C of O, others in his Car

A former Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.

The ex-governor was arrested over items recovered inside cars in a building in Abuja, reportedly belonging to him.

DSS in a statement by its spokesman, Tony Opuiyo on Sunday, said the search of the building at 44, Aguiyi Ironsi Way, Maitama, Abuja, led to the discovery of keys of 45 exotic cars, 21 Certificates of Occupancy, arms and ammunition.

4,000 Osun Varsity Students Risk Expulsion Over Non-payment Of Fees


About 4,000 students of Osun State University may be expelled for failing to pay their school fees before the February 28, 2017 deadline set by the authorities of the institution.

The affected students may also miss the first-semester examination scheduled to begin on March 6.

The management of the university disclosed this in a statement by the Corporate Affairs Unit yesterday.
