UNILORIN Lecturer says google search has turned students to lazy researchers


A lecturer, Mr Ibrahim Oseni says students have become lazy due to their over-reliance on google search for their academic works.

Oseni, who lectures at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Kwara State University, Malete made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday.

According to him, the use of google search has turned students to lazy researchers

He said students now relied mainly on their phone and computer set to solve simple questions as they did not want to stress their brain thinking.

A Chinese drink company has been criticised for claiming its latest product can enlarge women's breasts in a controversial advert. The Coconut Palm Group launched its new juice with an advert featuring well-endowed models. One beauty in a plunging top runs along a beach in slow motion while holding the drink in one hand.

A slogan on the screen next to her reads: 'A can a day and you'll be white, tender and busty' as the model says: 'A can of Coconut Palm a day will give you a graceful figure.'

A lady got more than she bargained for after being beaten for falsely accusing someone of stealing and subjecting him to severe jungle justice. According to an eyewitness, Akin: "This happened this evening at Williams street, Bakery bus stop in Aguda Surulere, Lagos. This woman was beaten and disgraced for laying false allegation against a man that he stole a phone from her.

South African President, Jacob Zuma reacts to violence against foreigners


South Africa’s President Jacob Zuma has condemned acts of violence between citizens and non-nationals, his office said on Friday.

Anti-immigrant violence has flared sporadically in South Africa against a background of near-record unemployment, with foreigners being accused of taking jobs from citizens and getting involved in crime.

Citizens in Pretoria are set to march against foreigners on Friday and domestic media are reporting vandalism and acts of violence in the Atteridgeville area west of the capital.

A trailer crushed a man to death today Friday, 24th February 2017 at Alafia bus stop, Lagos state. According to an eyewitness who spoke to LIB, the victim usually load passengers into buses at the scene of the accident. He was busy calling on passengers to board a vehicle when the trailer which was going at a high speed knocked him down and crushed him to death.

Rivers Rerun: INEC receives police report, vows to deal with indicted officials


The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has received the report of the Joint Police/DSS Special Investigation Panel on Rivers Re-Run elections of December 10, 2016.

The rerun election to elect state and federal lawmakers for Rivers was marred with violence include the death of at least two police officers.

An audio later emerged where the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, was heard admitting to bribing some INEC officials.

APC has failed Nigeria - Governor Wike


Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has stated that the All Progressives Congress ( APC) has failed Nigeria. House of Reps summon Emefiele over alleged $17bn undeclared oil sales


The House of Representatives ad hoc Committee investigating the alleged stolen 17 billion dollars  oil and gas sales on Thursday ordered Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Godwin Emefiele, to appear before it within one week.

The money was allegedly stolen through undeclared crude oil and liquefied natural gas export.

The committee threatened to issue a warrant of arrest on the governor if he failed  to appear within the period.

Why victims of Xenophobia are not compensated - South Africa Envoy


The South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Louis Mnguni has said victims of xenophobic attacks in south Africa are not compensated because the perpetrators “were not acting on instructions.”

Mnguni said this on Thursday when he was summoned by the ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.

When reminded of the agreement of the Nigerian-South African Bi-National Commission to compensate the victims of attacks, he said “Well I was not part of that; but I will follow up on that.”

Senate orders police to chase out prostitutes from Abuja


The Senate has ordered security agencies in the FCT to get rid of beggars, prostitutes and the destitute from the streets of the Nigerian capital, Abuja.

This was disclosed by the chairman, Senate committee on FCT, Senator Dino Melaye, at a media briefing in Abuja on Thursday, February 23.

Melaye informed journalists that his committee invited the police commissioner and commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to brief them about the growing insecurity in the FCT and the need to take steps to curb the trend.
