Audu Maikori to face trial


Chocolate City CEO, Audu Maikori, who was arrested on Friday by the police over his January tweets about alleged five students of College of Education, Gidan-Waya being killed by Fulani herdsmen, was freed yesterday Saturday.

Though the music producer later retracted his claims, saying he was misled by his driver, Punch reports that Governor Nasir el-Rufai was not pacified by his apology as he complained about the tweets to the police authorities who ordered Audu Maikori's arrest.

A teenager whose hand was cut off in Sapele, Delta State for stealing , stole again in last week.

The teenage thief who lost his hand after he slipped it through an open window of a house to steal a phone lying there but was cut off by the owner with a cutlass, was beaten mercilessly for stealing again.

President Buhari’s aide congratulates Sheriff as PDP chairman


Lauretta Onochie, personal assistant on social media to President Muhammadu Buhari, has congratulated Ali Modu Sheriff who was declared the legitimate chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday by the court of appeal sitting in Port Harcourt.

PDP chieftains had accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being the brain behind the leadership crisis in the opposition party.

SHOCKING! Retired Polytechnic worker dies after inability to buy N500 drug


One of the retired workers of the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State reportedly lost his life after he was unable to buy the N500 drug prescribed for him to treat his ailment. 

The chairman of the Association of Retired Staff of the polytechnic, Mr. Rufus Oguntoyinbo disclosed this in a statement issued at the end of the meeting of the association in Akure on Friday. 

Ayo Fayose says Buhari deserves rest and should be allowed


Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said politicians should allow President Muhammadu Buhari to enjoy his rest and stop disturbing him with needless visits.

He also said he remained a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to Ahmed Makarfi-led faction despite the Court of Appeal judgment recognising Alimodu Sheriff as the National Chairman.

He said, “We are not going anywhere. The matter has been appealed. In elections, three things are important: party, candidate and people. We have the people. The power of the people is greater than the machinations of the people working against us.”

Governor Fayose says FG plan to ban okada wicked, encourages insecurity


Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described moves by the Federal Government to ban commercial motorcycle, popularly known as Okada in the country as wicked.

The Federal Road Safety Commission recently called for a nationwide ban of Okada in the country, saying they were causing high rate of accidents.

But the governor, who is the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, said he would not ban okada in the state.

The reason of the recent visit is yet to be disclosed.

Senator Ben Murray Bruce has urged for a stop to the leadership tussle in the PDP, saying he has accepted Ali Modu Sheriff as the party's National Chairman.

Anxiety, fear and anger are the dominant feelings of the drivers and conductors of the ubiquitous yellow buses (aka danfo) in Lagos state following the planned phase out of the buses by the state government.
“That early morning ‘rush hour’ is when we make our money as transporters, so I cannot afford to sleep at home when others are making money or else I will go hungry,” Ayo Bamidele, a danfo driver, said in an interview.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose has reacted to Ali Modu Sheriff's threat to kick him out of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Addressing people of his state on Ekiti Radio-91.5FM and EKTV on Saturday, Fayose said he does not talk to “monkeys.”
“On that comment by Sheriff that he will kick me and Gov Wike out of PDP, I don’t talk to monkeys. That Appeal Court judgement is just a phase, it will fizzle out. All things will work together for good for me, that’s what the Bible says,'' Fayose said.

A group of at least 50 people on Saturday afternoon, forced their way into a block of flats along WF Nkomo Street, Pretoria, stealing residents' belongings and demanding that Nigerians leave the country. 

One of the Nigerian victims, who didn't give his name, said the mob forced their way into his house and stole his TV, laptop and cell phone.

Some members of a South African church have been reported dead after consuming anointed rat poison fed to them by their pastor.

According to popular UK website, Unilad, five members of the church under the spiritual guidance of Priest Light Monyeki from Soshanguve, South Africa were reported to have died in the aftermath of the rat poison consumption.

Okorocha is a showman positioning himself for presidency - Ihedioha


Emeka Ihedioha, former deputy speaker of the house of representatives, says Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state, is a “showman” positioning himself for the presidency.

The ex-lawmaker was reacting to a comment by Okorocha who said the Igbo should wait till 2023 to produce a president.

Okorocha’s statement came after former president Olusegun Obasanjo said that the Igbo should produce the next president in 2019.

In an interview with VANGUARD, Ihedioha said Okorocha is going about his ambition the wrong way because if any party wants to project him they would be interested in his performance.
