Paul Scholes says Real Madrid’s Kroos would be ‘perfect’ at Man Utd


Paul Scholes believes Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos would be a “perfect” fit in the Manchester United midfield alongside Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera.

Despite being 15 years older than Kroos, Scholes praised the Madrid midfielder as one of his role models during the final stretch of his career.
“I really like Toni Kroos. When I neared the end of my career, I followed him closely and tried to play like Kroos,” Scholes told kicker. “I was a midfielder with an eye for the goal, but Kroos is one of the best midfield masterminds in the world.”

China jails former Supreme court judge for life over corruption charges


A Chinese court on Thursday jailed for life Xi Xiaoming, a former senior judge Supreme People’s Court, after finding him guilty of corruption, state media said.

According to the report, Xi, is the latest official to fall foul of a sweeping crackdown on graft.

A former vice president of the Supreme People’s Court, was put under investigation in 2015.

He was one of the most senior judicial officials ousted by President Xi Jinping’s anti-corruption campaign since the downfall of Zhou Yongkang, the former domestic security chief whose brief included law enforcement and courts.

Vitamin D can protect against colds, flu


Taking extra vitamin D can protect against colds, flu and other respiratory infections, said a study Thursday which reopened a debate on the usefulness of over-the-counter supplements.

A review of 25 clinical trials in 14 countries, some with conflicting results, yielded “the first definitive evidence” of a link between vitamin D and flu prevention, researchers claimed in The BMJ medical journal.

The effects were strongest for people with very low levels of the nutrient which is found in some foods and can be synthesised by the body when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet light.

Many people, especially in grey, cloudy climes, do not have enough vitamin D.

Why females prefer colleges, polytechnics – Stakeholders


The desire to acquire tertiary education before marriage had made most females in Borno to prefer enrolling in Polytechnics and Colleges of Education instead of universities, some education stakeholders in the state have observed.

They said on Thursday that Polytechnics and Colleges were more convenient for females because of the shorter years of studies, thereby enabling them to complete their A-Level education before getting married.

Some of them said that it was easier for applicants to secure admissions into such institutions than Universities.

Malaysia arrests 3rd suspect in Kim Jong Nam’s death


Malaysian police have arrested a third suspect in its investigation in the death of Kim Jong Nam, the half-brother of Kim Jong Un.

The top leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), a senior Malaysian police official said on Thursday.

Abdul Mat, the police chief of Selangor state, told newsmen that the suspect, a 26-year-old male Malaysian, was arrested in Ampang city of the state of Selangor.

The former Ohio Court of Appeals Judge, has offered to help his congressman Representative, Steve Chabot, to draft the articles for Trump's impeachment.In an article he wrote for Cincinnati.com, Painter said that no other past president could have gotten away with the things Trump does.

Osun State | Missing 7-year-old girl found dead with multiple matchet cuts in a bush


A 7-year-old girl, who was declared missing days ago was found dead in a bush in Iree Town, Osun State.

The spokesperson of the Osun Sate Police Command, Mrs Folashade Odoro, who confirmed the incident on Wednesday, February 15th, in Osogbo, said the body was discovered near a sawmill by Chief Oluode of Iree and later reported to the police.

A new hijacking method where bandits use naked women to trap motorist into hijacking their cars on SA roads, has now been revealed.

According to Arrive Alive, a road safety advocacy and awareness group on its Twitter Page. The organisation posted two photos on Twitter warning motorists, to keep an eye off the naked bandits while driving.

The Federal Government has frowned at the claim by Professor Maduike Ezeibe, who claimed to have discovered a cure for HIV/AIDs.

Ezeibe, a researcher in Veterinary Medicine of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Abia State, claimed the drug, which was produced with “Aluminium Magnesium Silicate” has allegedly cured 10 persons living with HIV.
