Apo Six: Again, Court Adjourns Case To March 9


An FCT high court sitting in Maitama, Abuja has again adjourned judgment in the trial of the six police officers accused of killing six Igbo auto-spare part dealers in 2005 to March 9.

The judgement which was set to be delivered today, 13th of February after 11 years by the Chief Judge of FCT High Court, Justice Ishaq Bello, was adjourned because the court did not sit.

The protracted trial has been hindered mostly due to institutional challenges ranging from series of adjournments, conveyance of defendants from the prison to court and difficulty in getting witnesses to testify.

Minister of Power says he’ll resist payment when there’s no electricity


The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said he will, like other consumers, be more resistant to payment of electricity bill if there is no supply.

Fashola said this on Monday at the 12th Monthly Power Sector and Stakeholders’ Meeting in Ibadan hosted by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company.

Power generation in the country has worsened in recent weeks after hitting the 4,000 megawatts mark in December last year, with many consumers without prepaid meters complaining about over-estimated bills despite the dip in supply.

Furious mortuary workers storm cemetery, seize corpse over N3,000 bills


There was a recent drama at a cemetery in Ghana, when a mortuary attendant with the Tema General Hospital stormed the burial ground to seize a dead body over an unsettled balance of GH¢40 (nearly N3,000).

According to trending reports online, it was gathered that the relations were supposed to pay him for services he rendered.

Father in serious trouble for inflicting injuries on two of his children in Plateau (Disturbing Photos)


A 43-year-old father of three, Christopher Sule, has been arrested and will be facing prosecution under the Child’s Right Act for physically assaulting two of his children and causing the minors' serious bodily injuries.

According to the Management Committee Chairman of the Jos South Local Government Area, Augustine Pwakim, Christopher will be made to face the law for violating the Child right act which has been enacted in the state.

According to the Dawn reports, an Islamabad High Court on Monday imposed a ban on Valentine's Day celebrations in public places and government offices across Pakistan.

The Federal Ministry of Information, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) and the Islamabad High Commission have been told by Justice Shaukat Aziz, who was hearing the case, to submit their replies regarding the immediate execution of the court's orders.

According to this report posted on Facebook, Policemen in Azikoro Police Station, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, detained a female meat hawker and forced her to pay N8000 after meat sellers in the area reported her to them.

Man paraded naked for allegedly killing his kinsmen with 'juju'



A man accused of using diabolical means to kill his kinsmen and hold some others captive was stripped and paraded naked by an angry mob in Isiala Mbano, Imo state on the 9th of February 2017.

Ekezie, who is a vulcanizer from Umuezeala-Ogwara in Ezime Mbano LGA of Imo State was accused of being behind the downfall and death of many of the villagers.

Oni, a one-term governor, was defeated by Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who is now the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.

The incumbent, Ayo Fayose, in turn defeated Fayemi.

Kidnappers served me noodles in toilet – NTA employee shares his ordeal


The chief driver with the Nigeria Television Authority, Mr. Eze Wilson, who was kidnapped by gunmen, said he was kept and fed with noodles in a toilet for over two weeks by his abductors.

Wilson was kidnapped on January 20, 2017 along Apara Link road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State while driving home from his office in a Hyundai car belonging to his boss.

Narrating how he was abducted to Southern City News, Wilson said the hoodlums overtook him and two of them forcefully entered his car.

South Africans residents burn houses of Nigerians


Angry residents in Rosettenville, south of Johannesburg, have burnt 15 houses either belonging to or being rented by Nigeria's, foreign nationals, claiming immigrants had turned the neighbourhood into a drug haven.

Some shops belonging to foreign nationals in the area were also looted.

South African residents in the area claim Nigerians had illegally taken over most properties and turned them into drug and prostitution dens.

Adele is such a sweetheart. The singer broke her Album of the Year Grammy in half so she can give a part to Beyonce!

This is coming after Adele beat Beyonce to win the Album Of The Year and said she couldn't possibly accept the award because Beyonce is the artist of her life and Beyonce's album, the Lemonade album, was just so monumental.

Adele is now the first person to win Grammys Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, and Song Of The Year twice.

Kano State | 50-year-old man rapes, impregnates 15-year-old girl


A 50-year old man in Kabo Local Government Area of  Kano named Tukur Mohammed, has been arraigned before a Kano Chief Magistrate’s Court for sexually assaulting a 15-year old girl.

The police said the father of four asked his victim to accompany him to his farm where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

The teenager subsequently became pregnant after the sexual act.

The police First Information Report on the incident stated that one Abdulhamid Adamu, 45, reported the matter to the police on January 31, 2017.

30-year-old Nigerian soldier sentenced to death by hanging for raping a married woman



30-year-old Nigerian soldier, Lance Corporal Oge Etudo, has been found guilty of rape and culpable homicide and has been sentenced to death by hanging by an Abuja Court.

The Soldier who was formerly attached to a battalion of the Nigerian Army at Lungi Barracks in Abuja, was found guilty of abducting a lady, whose name was given as Binta Usman Kadede, on March 27, 2014, at Dei-Dei suburb of the FCT.

Justice A.S. Adepoju who ruled on the case, stressed that the soldier gruesomely murdered his victim after raping her, and so will not show mercy to him.

Music Legend, Majek Fashek to sue Timi Dakolo for N100M


Nigerian music star, Timi Dakolo, is getting sued for using Majek Fashek's hit song, “Send down the rain” without authorization when he was sick.

This was made known by Majek’s manager, Uzoma Day Omenka, who disclosed that the two artistes will be meeting in court before the end of March, after they return from a trip to the United Kingdom.

Expired malaria drugs killed Eric Arubayi - Brother reveal


Yesterday it was a dark cloud after news broke out that West African idol 2nd runner-up, Eric Arubayi died after a brief illness. His brother, Derrick Arubayi, has now revealed the cause of his death which is indeed very sad.

Derrick who spoke to a vanguard reporter disclosed that the late singer took expired malaria drugs which led to his death.

James Ibori, former governor of Delta state, says the biggest concern he had while serving a jail sentence in the UK was how his people were coping in his absence.

Speaking in his hometown of  Oghara during a special thanksgiving service organised in his honour, Ibori said those behind his travails had the intention of keeping him away from his people.

He appreciated his supporters for the love shown to him, saying he had always known that “a day like this would come”.
