Oba of Benin Appeals For Peaceful Co-existence Among Edo Community
Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II has sued for unity and peaceful Co-existence among the people in order to ensure the progress and development of Benin communities in Edo South.
Oba Ewuare the second made the call at Oghada during his visit to Isi and Egbede in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State in continuation of his post-coronation tour of communities.

Kogi State | Unknown Gunmen attack police station, kill two officers
Some gunmen attacked a police station at Eika community in Okehi local government area of Kogi state in the early hours of Friday, killing two policemen and a detainee.
According to NAN, the bandits invaded the station around 1am and immediately opened fire on policemen on duty.
The heavily armed hoodlums, said to be about 10, later set the station ablaze and proceeded to the house of Sadiq Obomi, chairman, Eika community development association, and killed him.
Biafra opens ‘operational embassy’ in Spain
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) says it has opened an embassy in Spain.
The group is seeking an independent state for the south-east and adjoining areas. Kayode Ogundamisi, a journalist, shared a video of the embassy on Facebook.
In the video, Uchenna Asiegbu, IPOB directorate head, is seen taking a guest on a tour of the facility.
Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the group and director of Radio Biafra, is facing charges of treason, and he has been in detention since 2015.

Chief Goddy Uwazurike, President emeritus of Aka Ikenga has said that an Igbo presidency cannot help Ndigbo.
Speaking during an interview Uwazurike said, “I don’t think there is anything exceptional about Ndigbo producing a president. But I say the person must be of Igbo origin, intelligent and wise to listen to the voice of the people. He must be sociable because Ndigbo alone can’t make him president. He must be ready to assuage the fears of the people.

Uchechi Kanu, the wife of incarcerated IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has revealed that her husband is so obsessed with the agitation for the restoration of Biafra that he once threatened to sacrifice her and their children to achieve his aim.
"He is a man that is obsessed with Biafra to the point of insanity and many times he has said publicly that he would gladly sacrifice me, the children and the wider family, if that is what it would take for Biafra to be free. That is the type of man Nigeria is facing, and that is the kind of man my husband is," she said.

Manchester United ready to offer Mourinho contract extension
Manchester United are set to extend Jose Mourinho’s contract at the club, after only seven months as their manager.
According to The Sun, the club’s hierarchy will sit down with Mourinho at the end of this season, to discuss a one-year extension to the three-year deal he signed last summer.
United chiefs are reported to be impressed with the former Chelsea manager’s impact at the club, despite the fact they are currently outside the top four on the table.

Nigerian, Algerian arrested for planning to bomb Germany
An Algerian and a Nigerian suspected to be planning to carry out a terrorist attack have been arrested in the German city of Goettingen, officials said on Thursday.
The men, aged 27 and 23 respectively, were taken into custody in a 450-strong police operation that took place during the night.
‘223 students to one toilet’ in Kano public schools
The Kano state government has expressed concern over poor state of infrastructural facilities in public schools.
Speaking at a workshop organised by the ministry for local government and community development, Hafiz Abubakar, the deputy governor said the report of a survey showed that an estimated number of 223 students are sharing only one toilet in government-owned schools across the state.
He described the development as unacceptable, lamenting how it makes students prone to infectious diseases.

Passengers escape unhurt as tyre of Doha-bound plane burst at Lagos airport
Hundreds of passengers on Thursday escaped death when one of the tyres of a Doha-bound Qatar Airways aircraft burst while it was attempting to take-off at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to NAN, the incident occurred around 3pm.
One of the passengers, who spoke to reporters, said the pilot was already cleared for take-off by the air traffic controllers when they suddenly heard a loud sound.

Christianity under attack – CAN condemns DSS invitation of leaders
Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, on Thursday condemned the interrogation of four members of its Trust Fund by the Department of State Services, DSS.
The body said it is now obvious that “Christianity is under siege in Nigeria.”
Director of Legal and Public Affairs in CAN, Kwamkur Samuel, in Abuja said recent attacks had confirmed speculations that there were plans to turn Nigeria to an Islamic state.
His reaction follows invitation of BoT members of CAN Trust Fund who are also leaders of the National Christian Elders Forum by the DSS.

Some Muslims clerics in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Friday said they had commenced 10-day prayer and fasting for the health of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Malam Uma Bolori who spoke on behalf of the clerics said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri on Friday.
He said, ‘’Our prayer is what President Buhari needs from Nigerians rather rumours.

The leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters, Julius Malema, shouted at Zuma as he attempted to deliver his State of the Nation annual address.
