#IStandWithNigeria Protest: VP Osinbajo commends the role of police


Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has applauded the Nigeria police for their handling of yesterday’s anti-government protests in Abuja and some other cities in the country.

Hundreds of Nigerians took to the streets yesterday to protest and seek a timely solution to biting economic hardship in the country.

Osinbajo, had earlier said on Monday that the government heard the cry of Nigerians “loud and clear.”

Nigeria has neither President nor Acting-President – Lawyer


A Lagos-based human rights lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, has said that going by the constitution of Nigeria, the country does not have either a President or an Acting-President at the moment.

According to him, the new letter transmitted to the Senate seeking to extend the powers of the Vice-President, Yomi Osinbajo, to function in as President in acting capacity has not been read on the floor of the Senate.

He stated this while commenting on the issue of President Muhammadu Buhari’s medical vacation in the UK, in a telephone chat with Daily Post.

Archbishop Chukwuma: "Buhari is too old to rule Nigeria, He should resign"


Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastical Province of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Emmanuel Chukwuma, has said President Muhammadu Buhari, is not capable to rule the country due to his age.

Chukwuma suggested that anyone above 60 years of age should not be allowed to rule the country.

Buhari, who was due to return to the country and resume work on Monday, extended his vacation in the UK over health related issue.

The Archbishop while fielding questions from newsmen on the cancelled return of the president, lamented that the nation is now in a comatose.

The organizers of last month's Women's March against President Donald Trump announced yesterday, February 6, their plans to hold a general strike against the Republican lead administration.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Yakubu Dogara, on Tuesday blamed the perennial power outage being experienced in the country on previous administrations of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking at a workshop put together by the House of Representatives to find solution to the recurrent power failure in the country, the Speaker said successive administrations from 1999 to 2015 spent nearly N3 trillion on the power sector with little success recorded.

The lawmaker observed that the period PDP held sway, the more money spent on the Power sector the more darkness Nigerians experienced.

FG Withdraws Charges Against Saleh, Others over 2.2Billion Naira Fraud


The Federal Government has withdrawn the 2.2 billion Naira fraud charges, filed against the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mr. Ahmed Gambo Saleh and two others, before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mr Saleh was to be arraigned alongside Mr. Muhammed Abdulrahaman Sharif and one Rilwanu Lawal before Justice Abba Bello Mohammed, on a 9-count charge bordering on diversion of 2.2 billion Naira public fund, Criminal Breach of Trust and taking bribe from Supreme Court contractors to the tune of 74.4 million Naira.

Rivers rerun: Police recover N111 million bribe from INEC officials (PHOTOS)


Police on Tuesday said it recovered more than N111 million from electoral officials alleged to have been bribed by Rivers State government during the December 10, 2016 rerun elections.

The money was reportedly recovered from 23 electoral Officers.

UNILAG bans mini-skirts, knickers, sleeveless clothes in new dress code for students


The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has released a dress code notice for students of the institution, banning outfits such as sleeveless, knickers, mini-skirts and dresses which are not at least knee length.

In a circular to undergraduates, the university management said, “indecent modes of exposure do not reflect the seriousness, dignity and character-moulding nature of the institution.”

The management warned undergraduates to desist from wearing tight outfits and those that expose sensitive parts of their body.

NSCDC foil suicide attack, arrest female bomber in Maiduguri


Two suicide bombers were on Tuesday intercepted while attempting to detonate explosives around a long queue at NNPC mega station along Damboa road in Maiduguri, the Borno police command has said.

One of the bombers was reportedly killed while the second was arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Both bombers were said to be about 18-years-old.

Former governor of Akwa-Ibom state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has said President Muhammadu Buhari should seek to co-opt members of other political parties who have economic knowledge to contribute their quota towards economic transformation, even as he (Buhari) searches for solution out of the present economic recession rocking the nation.

He gave the advice in an interview with newsmen.

Akpabio said the federal government should think out of the box in seeking for knowledge out of the current recession, adding that the right approach to growing the economy is from bottom-up and not from top-down, because “a good economic policy starts from a good polity.”

Ibrahim Shema, former governor of Katsina state, broke down in tears after operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) rearrested him on Tuesday.

Prophet Miraculously Escapes Being Lynched Over False Prophecy (Photos)


A self-proclaimed prophet who says he is also the ‘untouchable almighty god,’ miraculously escaped lynching in Uganda, for allegedly spreading falsehood and brainwashing locals.

According to Uganda Monitor, Mr Severino Lukoya, leader of the New Jerusalem Tabernacle Church, had travelled with his disciples to Kalongo for door-to-door prayer sessions, claiming he was sent by God Himself to deliver a special message and also cleanse the area of evil spirits.

Mr Lukoya had told Sunday Monitor in an interview that God had called him out to walk on foot and do a door-to-door preaching until he covers the entire country.

A husband from Zambia found a pair of used condoms in his wife’s handbag and decided to punish his unfaithful wife by rubbing hot chilli on his wife’s underwear.

Narrating her ordeal in a fully-packed court, Nellie Simambo, 30, of Matero Township in Lusaka tearfully recounted how the incident resulted in the swelling of her private parts.

She said her husband was always suspecting her of having extramarital affairs which led him to rubbing chilli into her underwear.

She added that her husband was also a violent man who beat her regularly for no apparent reason.
