Rivers rerun: Police recover N111 million bribe from INEC officials (PHOTOS)


Police on Tuesday said it recovered more than N111 million from electoral officials alleged to have been bribed by Rivers State government during the December 10, 2016 rerun elections.

The money was reportedly recovered from 23 electoral Officers.

UNILAG bans mini-skirts, knickers, sleeveless clothes in new dress code for students


The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has released a dress code notice for students of the institution, banning outfits such as sleeveless, knickers, mini-skirts and dresses which are not at least knee length.

In a circular to undergraduates, the university management said, “indecent modes of exposure do not reflect the seriousness, dignity and character-moulding nature of the institution.”

The management warned undergraduates to desist from wearing tight outfits and those that expose sensitive parts of their body.

A high proportion of children with surgically amenable congenital heart disease will require life-saving, invasive intervention to help improve their quality of life significantly. It is estimated that compared to their peers, the medical costs for individuals with congenital heart disease are 10 to 20 times greater funds most of these family cannot afford.

NSCDC foil suicide attack, arrest female bomber in Maiduguri


Two suicide bombers were on Tuesday intercepted while attempting to detonate explosives around a long queue at NNPC mega station along Damboa road in Maiduguri, the Borno police command has said.

One of the bombers was reportedly killed while the second was arrested by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Both bombers were said to be about 18-years-old.

Former governor of Akwa-Ibom state, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has said President Muhammadu Buhari should seek to co-opt members of other political parties who have economic knowledge to contribute their quota towards economic transformation, even as he (Buhari) searches for solution out of the present economic recession rocking the nation.

He gave the advice in an interview with newsmen.

Akpabio said the federal government should think out of the box in seeking for knowledge out of the current recession, adding that the right approach to growing the economy is from bottom-up and not from top-down, because “a good economic policy starts from a good polity.”

Former Katsina Governor, Ibrahim Shema weeps as EFCC rearrests him


Ibrahim Shema, former governor of Katsina state, broke down in tears after operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) rearrested him on Tuesday.

Shema initially resisted the attempt to arrest him at a Katsina high court where he was arraigned.

He is standing a 22-count charge bordering on alleged criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of public funds.

26-year-old Brittney Jones and 35-year-old Jeremiah Robinson are wanted by Florida authorities after they had sex on the fourth floor of the Duval County Courthouse.

Not only did they get it in, but they recorded their shenanigans and posted the clip on social media.

According to NYDN, Jones and Robinson are both wanted on charges of unnatural and lascivious act, police said. Neither Jones nor Robinson are courthouse employees, police said.

Prophet Miraculously Escapes Being Lynched Over False Prophecy (Photos)


A self-proclaimed prophet who says he is also the ‘untouchable almighty god,’ miraculously escaped lynching in Uganda, for allegedly spreading falsehood and brainwashing locals.

According to Uganda Monitor, Mr Severino Lukoya, leader of the New Jerusalem Tabernacle Church, had travelled with his disciples to Kalongo for door-to-door prayer sessions, claiming he was sent by God Himself to deliver a special message and also cleanse the area of evil spirits.

Mr Lukoya had told Sunday Monitor in an interview that God had called him out to walk on foot and do a door-to-door preaching until he covers the entire country.

Wicked husband rubs hot pepper on wife’s pants after finding 2 used condoms in her handbag


A husband from Zambia found a pair of used condoms in his wife’s handbag and decided to punish his unfaithful wife by rubbing hot chilli on his wife’s underwear.

Narrating her ordeal in a fully-packed court, Nellie Simambo, 30, of Matero Township in Lusaka tearfully recounted how the incident resulted in the swelling of her private parts.

She said her husband was always suspecting her of having extramarital affairs which led him to rubbing chilli into her underwear.

She added that her husband was also a violent man who beat her regularly for no apparent reason.

His media office immediately reached out to some journalists such as to warn Nigerians not to fall victim to the fraudster who created that Twitter Account for whatever reason. We can only suspect that a confidence trickster must have created that account to lure incredulous Nigerians into a 419 trap. 

Lagos State plans to remove Yellow Buses (Danfo) from Lagos roads


Today, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode revealed that plans are in motion to remove yellow buses popularly known as Danfo from Lagos roads for a more efficient, well-structured and world class mass transportation system that would facilitate ease of movement within the city.

Speaking at the 14th Annual Lecture of the Centre for Values in Leadership (CVL) held at Muson Centre in Onikan with the theme: “Living Well Together, Tomorrow: The Challenge Of Africa’s Future Cities,” Governor Ambode admitted that the present connectivity mode in Lagos was not acceptable and befitting for a mega city, and as such a well-structured transportation mode would soon be put in place to address the challenge.

Libyan coastguards rescue over 1000 African migrants including women and children (Photos)


The spokesman for the Libyan Navy, Ayoub Qasim, said the Libyan coastguards rescued more than 1200 illegal immigrants off Sabratha shores in a week. He explained that the Libyan coastguards intercepted four dinghies, on board of which, there were 431 illegal migrants off Sabratha shores last Thursday.

Unknown Gunmen shot and killed a Police officer in Ondo state


Corporal Michael Olujimi, a policeman attached to the Okitipupa Police Division in Ondo State, is dead after he was shot by unidentified gunmen. The sad incident occurred Saturday, at about 5:30 a.m. Olujimi was heading to the station to resume duty when the gunmen opened fire on him and escaped, immediately leaving him in a pool of his own blood and fighting for his life.

He was still alive when help came and he was rushed to the hospital, sadly he did not make it.

A witness spoke to Vanguard about the incident, saying;
