Audu Maikori apologizes for saying 5 students were killed in Southern Kaduna crisis


Chocolate City founder, Audu Maikori, has apologized to the College of Education in Gidan-Waya, Kaduna and the Kaduna State Government, for sending out false information about an attack on the school.

Maikori at the time claimed that six students of the school were killed by Fulani herdsmen, including his driver’s younger brother.

The College of Education released a statement denying the incident and Maikori faced a lot of backlash on social media, with many saying he posted fake pictures.

Reps members pick lawyers for $1bn suit against the United States over sex scandal allegation


Three members of the House of Representatives exonerated of sexual misconduct allegations levelled against them by the United States Embassy in Nigeria have picked lawyers to handle their $1billion suit against the US government.

According to Sunday Punch, the lawyers are to file the suit in the US, while the lawmakers will continue to communicate with them through electronic means from Nigeria, since they are barred for now from entering the US.

DSS Director, Kano dies at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital


The Director of the Kano office of State Security Service, SSS, Abdullahi Chiranchi, has died. He died today at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital following complains of stomach cramps. He will be buried today in Katsina state according to Islamic rites.

Police Arrest Notorious Kidnap Kingpin "Mayor" in Enugu


The Police in Enugu have arrested a notorious kidnap kingpin, Christian Akpan, also known as “Mayor’’ in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, disclosed this in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Friday.

Amaraizu said Akpan was arrested through “a well-structured operation borne out of intelligence information’’.

Police in Colombia have caught a drugs cartel hitman said to be behind at least 30 murders aged just 17.

The suspect is known only by his nickname 'Frijolito' or 'Little Bean' and carried out his first contract killing aged 12. An elite squad of cops have been trying to track him for four months in Cali, a city famous for its links to drug-trafficking.

Fake doctor nabbed for carrying out illegal abortion


A fake doctor who allegedly performed an illegal abortion of a six-month pregnancy in Akute, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State has been arrested.

The crime was uncovered by a supervisory team of the State Ministry of Health in collaboration with the Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) while monitoring the level of compliance of the re-validation and registration exercise of health facilities in the State.

Chairman of NANNM, Roseline Solarin who disclosed this during an interview added that the fake doctor was also discovered to have organised a graduation ceremony for a fake nurse.

She, however reiterated the readiness of the professional body to lead the fight against quackery in the health sector.

Anyone planning to join the anti-government rally planned by Nigerian music star, Innocent Idibia popularly known as Tuface Idibia will be protected and free to do so.

That’s the assurance from the Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, in reaction to an earlier report of a police ban on the protest.
