The former England international midfielder confirms that his playing career is coming to an end at the age of 38, turning down offers to continue

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard announced his immediate retirement from playing football on Thursday, at the age of 38.

The midfielder last played for New York City FC but saw his contract expire in the summer after helping Patrick Vieira's men to the Eastern Conference semi-finals, where they were eliminated 7-0 by Toronto FC in the play-offs.

Shameful! Woman steals bride’s money at wedding

A 19-year-old unemployed woman, Ifeoluwa Adekunle, charged with stealing N60,000 at a wedding was on Wednesday arraigned at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

Adekunle, a resident of Alagbado, Lagos, was said to have committed the offence on Dec. 12, 2016, at La- Occasion Event Centre, New Oko -Oba, Agege, Lagos.

According to the Prosecutor, Insp . Clement Okuoimose, the defendant unlawfully entered into the wedding reception of one Mrs Adeshina Adeyanju and stole N60, 000 belonging to the bride.

The horrifying incident took place in the O’zbegim shopping centre in the city of Andijan, in east-central Uzbekistan.

Footage from security cameras in a shopping centre in Uzbekistan shows the woman in a long dress and a headscarf coming down an escalator with a baby in her right arm and holding an older child with her left hand.

How a soldier allegedly beat motorcyclist to death in Lagos

A power-drunk soldier, identified simply as Sergeant Taiwo, has brought sorrow into the family of a 25-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Abu Alhaji, whom he allegedly beat to death.

Taiwo, aka Sir T, lives in Myyong Army Barracks, Yaba, and is reportedly in detention in the barracks.

The motorcyclist, father of a six-month-old child, was said to have taken a woman, who wanted to buy snacks, to an eatery in the Morroco, Shomolu area, while the soldier parked his Toyota Camry on the premises.

James Ibori says he will return to politics upon his return to Nigeria

A former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, who was recently released from a British prison where he served a jail term for corruption, has indicated his plan to rejoin politics upon his return to Nigeria.

Mr. Ibori, who ruled the oil rich state between 1999 and 2007, said he would not quit politics until his death.

“What happens in African politics – you are in it until you die,” he told Reuters in London after a court hearing on Tuesday.

“I am a politician, I will always be a politician. I play the politics in my party and in my country for the good of my people.”
