Footballer Joseph Yobo and his beauty queen, Adaeze Yobo, have welcomed their third child, a girl. The couple already have two sons, Joey and Jayden. Both mother and child are said to be doing fine.

West Ham agrees £25m deal with Marseille for Payet


West Ham United have confirmed that a £25million deal has been agreed for Dimitri Payet to join Ligue 1 club, Marseille.

Payet only moved to the Premier League 18 months ago from Marseille.

His transfer ends a long-running battle with the club, after the French playmaker insisted he wanted to leave.

This was first revealed by Hammers manager, Slaven Bilic, who said Payet was refusing to play for the club. The news was received with anger by the team’s supporters.

Children of the slain former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Chief Bola Ige, Funso and Muyiwa have declared that they have fulfilled the wishes of their late father.‎
They said their father had wished them a better life which had come true.


They spoke at the 50th birthday celebration of the son of the late politician, Architect Muyiwa Ige held at the St Agnes Church Molete Ibadan on Saturday, where scores of dignitaries felicitated with the family.

Barcelona wants goal-line technology after ghost goal at Real Betis


Barcelona is demanding for goal-line technology to be used in La Liga after they were wrongly denied a goal in their 1-1 draw with Real Betis on Sunday.

Betis had taken the lead in the second half through Alex Alegria. Barca thought they had drawn level when Aissa Mandi attempted to clear a Jordi Alba shot off the line.

The goal was ruled out by referee Hernandez Hernandez, but replays showed the ball had completely crossed the line.

Agent reveals how Mourinho frustrated Evra’s return to Manchester United


Patrice Evra’s agent, Federico Pastotello, has revealed that he spoke with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, over a possible return for his client, but the Portuguese was not interested in the player.

Evra eventually left Juventus for Marseille this month.

Pastotella however admits the 35-year-old would have done anything for a return to Old Trafford, having spent eight years with United in the past.

Cabals frustrating our efforts to see Buhari – Christian Association laments


The Christian Association of Nigeria, on Sunday, accused some cabals of trying to frustrate every effort being made by its President, Dr. Supo Ayokunle, to see President Muhammadu Buhari.

The group faulted the belief in some quarters that it has not been pragmatic enough in responding to issues that concerned Christians in the country.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the President of the Youth Wing of CAN, Daniel Kadzai, said while the association had been standing up for the defence of Christianity, “the government’s disposition to some of the issues affecting Christians are not encouraging.”

Travel ban implementation a ‘massive success’ – President Trump’s aides


Donald Trump’s aides have hailed the implementation of a temporary travel ban on people from seven countries as a “massive success story”.

The words come despite criticism from some top Republicans, anger from the mainly-Muslim countries affected and scenes of protest and confusion at US airports.

A senior official said that the executive order signed by Mr Trump on Friday was being fully enforced by agencies.

Gunmen open fire at a Mosque in Quebec kills Six, eight others injured


Six people were killed and eight wounded when gunmen opened fire at a Quebec mosque during Sunday night prayers, in what Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called a "terrorist attack on Muslims."

Police said two suspects had been arrested but gave no details about them or what prompted the attack.

Initially, the mosque president said five people were killed and a witness said up to three gunmen had fired on about 40 people inside the Quebec City Islamic Cultural Centre. Police said only two people were involved in the attack.

Schweinsteiger stars as Manchester United ease past Wigan


Bastian Schweinsteiger enjoyed a memorable Manchester United return, wrapping up a comprehensive FA Cup fourth-round win against Wigan on his first start for more than a year.

Few expected to see the 32-year-old in the club’s colours again after being frozen out by Jose Mourinho, falling so far down the pecking order that the club even wrote him off as an asset in their accounts.

However, Schweinsteiger has surprisingly returned from the cold and capped his first United start since Jan. 9, 2016, by hooking home the FA Cup holders’ final goal of a 4-0 win against Wigan.

Eyebrows were raised at the former Germany captain’s inclusion, compounded by the rust visible in the opening stages against Warren Joyce’s well-drilled side.

So sad! 23-year-old beauty queen passes away


Miss World Kenya -Nyamiri County 2016, Mercy Mokeira has passed away, her father confirmed to eDaily Kenya.

Mokeira died aged 23 on Saturday, January 28, at 11:30am at North Kinangop Hospital, where she had been hospitalised since mid January 2017.

Mercy Mokeira had fallen ill last year December and was admitted to a hospital in Kijabe after complaining of neck pain. At the hospital, she was diagnosed with thyroid disease. She got well and was later discharged.

IPOB Slams DSS Over Invitation Of Suleiman, Call on Arrest of Zahra Buhari, Sultan Of Sokoto, El-rufai


The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has condemned in totality the invitation extended to Apostle Johnson Suleiman of Omega Fire Ministry by the Department of State Services (DSS).

He is to appear at the DSS headquarters in Abuja on Monday, January 30th, 2017 by 10 am.

Suleiman was invited by the DSS following his recent comment on the state of the nation, particularly on the issue of Fulani herdsmen.

Federal Judge Blocks President Trump's Order to Return Refugees and Visa-Holders


A federal judge in Brooklyn blocked part of an executive order that President Donald Trump signed Friday barring visitors from seven Muslim-majority countries.

The emergency stay, issued Saturday night, temporarily prevents people arriving at U.S. airports with valid visas from being deported.

The ruling, issued by Judge Ann Donnelly of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, temporarily stalls President Trump’s plan to block visitors — including visa and green card holders — from Syria, Iran, Somalia, Yemen, Iraq, Sudan and Libya for 90 days. The order also suspended the refugee resettlement program for four months.

A suspect arrested in connection with the abduction and death of a medical doctor working at the Omu-Aran General Hospital in Irepodun area of Kwara State, Dr. Tunde Abdulrahman, in July 2016 has explained that he personally shot the victim and later sold his corpse, Punch reports.

Abdulrahman had been missing since he was abducted by three armed men, Hammed, Dayo and Yemi, who stormed his father’s house in Tanke area of Ilorin and took him away in his Toyota Corolla saloon car.

Pastor flees naked after he was caught in bed with a parishioner wife (Watch is apology)


Rev. O. Jermaine Simmons Sr., Pastor of the popular Jacob Chapel Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida, was forced to run for his life, naked, when one of his parishioners caught him in bed with his wife on Tuesday last week.

According to the Christian Post, the Tallahassee police reports Benjamin Stephens III found his wife, Claynisha Stephens, 34, in bed with 37-year-old Pastor Simmons.

The pastor is married with one child, according to his church's website. Both Claynisha and Benjamin are his parishioners.

Roger Federer won his 18th Grand Slam title and first for five years with a thrilling five-set victory over Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open final.

The 35-year-old Swiss won 6-4 3-6 6-1 3-6 6-3 to claim his fifth Melbourne title and extend his lead at the top of the all-time men's major winners' list.

Nadal, 30, remains tied in second with Pete Sampras on 14 Grand Slams following his first final since 2014.

Federer's previous major title came at Wimbledon in 2012.

Niger State | Fire outbreak rocks NNPC depot in Suleja


The Niger State Fire Service has confirmed an early morning fire outbreak at the NNPC depot in Suleja.

Mr Mohammad Kwale, the officer in charge of the service in Suleja, told newsmen on Sunday that the outbreak affected the loading section in the depot. ”The outbreak started around 4:30am when we were called. By 5:00am we have put out the flames.
"An articulated vehicle was burnt while the loading canopy and some pipes were damaged. No life was, however, lost in the incidence," he told newsmen.
