Ex YBNL Singer, Xino Apologises To Olamide, YBNL Team


Former YBNL artiste, Benjamin Chinedu Ahamefula, aka Xino, seems to have returned from a journey of sober reflections as he now seeks to reconcile with his former label boss, Olamide, whom he dumped in 2016 following allegations of abandonment by the management of YBNL. 

Recall that after dropping two Pheelz produced singles, ‘Nakam’ and ‘TTYL’, the Plateau State born afro-beat singer, took shots at Olamide after exiting the label, accusing the ‘Konkobility’ rapper, Olamide, of treating him like he had nothing to offer the label. He accused Olamide of insensitivity; concluding that he could not be loyal anymore.

EFCC Boss, Ibrahim Magu Says Men Are More Corrupt Than Women


Mr Ibrahim Magu, Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has said that corrupt tendencies were more pronounced among males than females.
“Looking at the number of people that have been apprehended by the commission, the number of men involved outnumber the women,” Magu said on Friday, in Abuja,
Magu made the statement when the executive committee of the National Council of Women Society (NCWS), paid him a courtesy visit.

UNICEF Report Shows Nigeria Has 2nd Highest Prevalence Of Child Deaths Globally



In a recent United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF’s report, it was revealed that every single day, Nigeria loses about 2300 under five-year olds and 145 women of childbearing age. This makes the country the second largest contributor to the under-five and maternal mortality rate in the world. 

Also UNICEF says that deaths of newborn babies in Nigeria represent a quarter of the total number of deaths of children under-five majority of these occur within the first week of life, mainly due to complications during pregnancy and delivery reflecting the intimate link between newborn survival and the quality of maternal care. Main causes of neonatal deaths are birth asphyxia severe infection including tetanus and premature birth. 

Two Nigerians Arrested For $1.2 Million UK Bank Fraud


The Police Special Fraud Unit, Ikoyi, has arrested two men, Oladapo Oyeniyi and Kunle Ayotoye, for allegedly defrauding a United Kingdom (UK)-based bank of 1,200,000 US dollars under false pretences.

The police said Oyeniyi, 48, and Ayotoye, 45, stole the money between December 2012 and January 2013, during their employment at a firm at No. 3, Oje Imsisnvan Street, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.

The duo, of unknown addresses, were arraigned yesterday before Chief Magistrate A. O. Awogboro of an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court.

Election: APC Chieftain Launches Bring-Back-Jonathan-In-2019


The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Borno State has become rattled by the launch of the Bring-Back-Goodluck-Jonathan-in-2019 campaign by a former chairman of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Grema Terab, who parades himself as a chieftain of the ruling party 

The party, however, distanced itself from the campaign, going ahead to disown Alhaji Grema Terab, saying that there is no record of him being registered as card a carrying member of the APC in any of the 312 wards across the 27 local government areas of the state. 

Borno State secretary of APC, Bello Ayuba, issued a statement saying:

JAMB, NSCDC To Raid Cyber Cafe Over UTME Registration


The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it is embarking on a national raid of cyber cafe, ahead of its Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head, Media and Information, told newsmen on Friday in Lagos that the exercise would be jointly carried out with the officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). 

He said the raid was meant to smash the operations of some syndicates operating cyber cafes to print fake UTME registration numbers and application documents to prospective candidates.

Johnson Suleman, general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, who recently escaped arrest from operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS), has revealed that his father is a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his hometown of Auchi in Edo state. 

Operatives of the secret police had stormed the hotel where the fiery preacher who was in Ekiti state for a 2-day crusade lodged, with the intention of arresting him.

The incident happened days after Suleman told his security aides to kill any herdsman found around his church premises.

Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti, had prevented the arrest.

Nigerian Customs Seizes Two Helicopters At Lagos Airport


An attempt to smuggle two civil model Bell Helicopters into the country by a yet to be identified person has led to their forfeiture to the Nigerian Customs Service, the Customs said on Friday.

The helicopters were subsequently handed over to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to aid its fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast.

The contraband was seized at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, on November 7, 2016.

The Imo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the procurement of aircraft and inauguration of an airline, ‘Imo Air’ by Governor Rochas Okorocha at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport, Owerri, saying the governor was busy campaigning for his 2019 presidential ambition instead of praying for president Muhammadu Buhari who is on his sick bed.

PDP in a statement signed by Hon. Ray Emeana, described the inauguration of the airline as the commencement of Okorocha’s presidential campaign for 2019, accusing the governor of assembling resources at the expense of the state for his presidential ambition in 2019.
