Soldiers Allegedly Brutalize Man For Been 'So Muscular' In Lagos (Photos)


Nigerian soldiers have been accused of allegedly brutalizing a fitness enthusiast for wearing a fitted top which revealed his muscular built. 

According to the victim Olajide Nathan (@drealghettoboy), the incident happened around 9:30pm, last night, at Keffi street, off Awolowo road, close to Dordan barracks, Obalende.

A policeman attached to the PPL Police Post, Ojo division, Sergeant Henry, has allegedly stabbed an estate manager, Lucky Asuelimen, along the PPL Task Force Road, Ojo. It was learnt that Henry accused Asuelimen of mocking him and three other cops while pushing a vehicle last Wednesday.
It was gathered that the four policemen were pushing the commercial bus to the police station after its owner allegedly committed an offence.

A resident was said to have mocked the policemen while they passed.

It was learnt that Henry later returned to the area and attacked Asuelimen, alleging he was the one who mocked them.

In what has been described as a shot in a million, a British marksman in Iraq killed three senior ISIS terrorists with one shot from a range of 1800m as they were preparing to fire shots into a crowd of women and children. According to a source who spoke with The Daily Star Online, a SAS squad was tracking the IS members when dozens of women and children tried to flee from the extremists

When the terrorists ordered the civilians to stop and pointed a machine gun at the crowd from a second-storey window, the SAS team decided they had no choice but to open fire and save the fleeing group.

Also, as part of efforts to enhance the productivity and welfare of the workers, the government says, it has approved the reinstatement of monthly imprest, otherwise known as overhead cost to enable all MDAs and parastatals cater for some of their basic needs.

Arsene Wenger denies pushing fourth official against Burnley


Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has admitted he lost his cool during their 2-1 win over Burnley, but denied pushing fourth official, Anthony Taylor.

Wenger was sent off by referee Jon Moss, after his protests following a penalty awarded to the visitors, in the third minute of stoppage time.

The Gunners boss continued to watch from the tunnel and was ushered away by Taylor. He was then seen throwing his arms towards Taylor, before going down the tunnel.

Faulty batteries cause of Note 7 explosion - Samsung confirms


Samsung's probe into its Galaxy Note 7 fiasco has found that the overheating and burning of the phones was caused by defective batteries.

On Monday, Samsung said that neither software nor hardware other than the batteries were at fault.

The recall is thought to have cost $5.3bn (£4.3bn) and was hugely damaging for the South Korean firm's reputation.

Yahya Jammeh 'stole $11.4m' from the Gambia in last two weeks - Reports


Exiled Gambian ruler Yahya Jammeh stole millions of dollars in his final weeks in power, plundering the state coffers and shipping out luxury vehicles by cargo plane, a special adviser for the new president has claimed.

At a press conference in the Senegalese capital, Barrow’s special adviser Mai Ahmad Fatty told journalists the president “will return home as soon as possible’.

Underscoring the challenges facing the new administration, Fatty alleged that Jammeh made off with more than US$11.4m (£9.18m) during a two-week period.

West African troops entered The Gambia Sunday to secure President Adama Barrow’s arrival from neighbouring Senegal, as controversy erupted over the assurances offered to Yahya Jammeh to guarantee his exit, reports AFP.

The troops were involved in a fierce shootout with pro-Jammeh elements and mercenaries.

Former President Yahya Jammeh flew out of The Gambia on Saturday, ending 22 years at the helm of the tiny west African nation, and landed in Equatorial Guinea a few hours later where he is expected to settle with his family.

Yahya Jammeh flees Gambia (Photos)


Gambia’s former President, Yahya Jammeh, on Friday night left the country to Guinea in the wake of elections that ousted him after 22 years in power. 

Yahya left the country in the company of his wife and Guinean president, Alpha Conde. Adama Barrow who is his successor would return to the country to assume office after he was sworn in at the Gambian Embassy in Senegal on Thursday.

Ediale Ayodele, a 35-year-old woman who lives at No. 6, Ayodola Close, Akonwonjo, allegedly stabbed an official of Ikeja Electric company in Lagos State. 

According to Daily Post, Ediale, who was arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, took a knife and stabbed the unnamed NEPA official who had come to the said property to check on a disconnection carried out some weeks back when the altercation occurred. He was rushed to the General Hospital at Alimosho, where he was confirmed dead.

Photos: Indian authorities seize over N26 million from Nigerian man at Delhi airport


Indian authorities seized over Rs 58 lakh equivalent to about $85,000 (that's N26,987,500.00) from a Nigerian national identified as one Tochukwu Chijioke, who was travelling to Coimbatore on at the Delhi airport.

Of the total cash seized, almost Rs 54 lakh, was in the newly introduced Rs 2000 & Rs 500 currency notes, while the remaining Rs 4 lakh was in discontinued high-value notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.

Tochukwo Chijioke was identified by CISF personnel present at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on December 23.
