Pope Francis urges Trump to help poor and outcasts


Pope Francis congratulated US President Donald Trump on his inauguration Friday, urging the new president to keep fighting for the poor at a time of “grave humanitarian crises.”

Francis offered his “cordial good wishes” and hoped Trump would be granted “wisdom and strength in the exercise” of his office.

But the pontiff struck a cautionary chord in his message to Trump, imploring the former reality TV star to continue to help those who suffer the most.

AC Milan complete signing of Gerard Deulofeu on loan from Everton


AC Milan have completed the signing of Gerard Deulofeu from Everton on loan, the Serie A club announced on Friday.

The two clubs had held extended talks, with Milan resisting a deal that would include an obligation to buy the 22-year-old on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman said on Thursday that he would not stand in Deulofeu’s way after freezing out the player in recent weeks.

Some protesters under the aegis of “Patriotic Mothers Without Borders”, on Friday stormed the EFCC Abuja headquarters calling for the “arrest, investigation and prosecution” of Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti State, over his involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.

Chanting “Fayose must go”, the women numbering about 300 carried various placards and banners with inscriptions like: “EFCC Must Prosecute Fayose”, “Corruption is Corruption”, “Fayose is being tormented by the blood of innocent Nigerians slaughtered by Boko Haram”.

Convener of the group, Nnenna Jideofor, accused Fayose of stealing part of funds meant to equip the military in the fight against terrorism.

Catholic priests submit appeal to Pope to end celibacy


A group of senior priests in Germany has called on the Roman Catholic Church to end the celibacy rule in priesthood.

The 11 high ranking clerics, who were ordained in Cologne in 1967, are of the opinion that every man should have the right to choose to take the vow or not as other Protestant and Orthodox Church pastors have.

They wrote the letter as part of a review of their 50 years in the Catholic Church.

IPOB: Donald Trump Support Turns Violent, 11 Feared Dead


The solidarity rally embarked upon today by the indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in support of US president-elect, Donald Trump in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State has turned violent.

Secluded in his hideaway in Pakistan, Osama bin Laden suspected Iranian officials might implant tracking devices in his sons, according to a document released Thursday in a batch of materials seized in a 2011 raid that killed the al-Qaida leader.
"If they inject you with a shot, this shot might be loaded with a tiny chip," bin Laden wrote in an undated letter to his sons, Uthman and Mohammed, who were being allowed to leave Iran. "The syringe size may be normal, but the needle is expected to be larger than normal size. The chip size may be as long as a seed of grain but very thin and smooth."
