Solomon Dalung orders NFF accounts audited over $1.1m FIFA Grant

Sports minister Solomon Dalung has ordered an audit of the accounts of the Nigeria Football Federation  after  FIFA suspended further grants to the body  until the NFF  properly accounts for the $1.1m it (FIFA) had given  the NFF.

“I received a report from the NFF intimating me of FIFA’s audit report,  which  queried  the management of $1.1m  FIFA’s development grant to the NFF,” AfricanFootball.com quoted the minister as saying on Sunday.

Human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), has called on President Buhari to fulfill his vow not to protect sacred cows in his government by immediately sacking the SGF.

Suspect narrates how he created route to neigbour’s house day before robbery

A 21-one-year-old undergraduate of a university in Osun State, Rilwan Iyiola, said he created a route to the attic of his neigbhours’ apartment a day before he and his brother, Kazeem Iyiola, 19, robbed the victims.

Rilwan, a 200-level student of Political Science, said he was desperate to raise money so he could go to another institution because the course he was studying presently was allegedly forced on him.

The victims were identified as a couple, Oluwafemi Imafidon and Yetunde, who lived with the suspects on Oluwole Fagbote Street, Ota, Ogun State.

Police, kidnappers clash during rescue leaves four dead in Lagos

Four suspected kidnappers were killed on Friday in a fierce clash with some policemen from the Lagos State Police Command.

PUNCH Metro learnt that a medical doctor with St Francois Hospital, Onikan, identified simply as Dr Ajayi, who was kidnapped by the gang, was rescued unhurt by the police team.

Our correspondent gathered that Ajayi had been abducted on Friday, December 9, 2016, by the gunmen, who attacked the hospital and made away with some valuables.

Police arrest man who allegedly abuses minor for money ritual

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a man who allegedly abused  a minor sexually for money ritual in the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said this in a statement in Enugu on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Amaraizu said the suspect was nabbed on December 11, 2106, after the police got “a lot of report” about him.

Germany Government donates €3m and military equipment to Nigeria

The German government on Sunday donated military equipment and the sum of €3m to fight insurgency in the North-East region.

The German Minister of Defence, Dr. Ursula Von der Layen, handed over the equipment to her Nigerian counterpart, Mansur Dan-Ali, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, saying that the donation was done under the 2012-2016 Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries.

SHOCKING! Dog found eating newborn baby left at dump site in Bauchi

There was outrage on Sunday at Gwallameji, a suburb of Bauchi, the Bauchi State capital, after a dog was found eating a newborn baby abandoned at a rubbish dump.

A resident of the area, who only gave his name as Isaiah, told PUNCH Metro that he was coming back from church when he came across the scene.

He said, “I was coming back home from my church when I saw many people gather behind a house. I became curious and I went to see what was happening.

Supervisor arraign for stealing N4.5m belonging to Company

A 30-year-old supervisor with Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Emmanuel Peters, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for the alleged theft of N4.5m.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Peters, who lived on Ojelade Street, Jibowu, was employed as a supervisor by the company in 2013.

He was alleged to have collected N4.5m from some clients between 2014 and 2016, without remitting the money into the company’s account.

According to reports, the suspect fled with the money after the fraud was uncovered, just as the case was reported to the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan.

Police set to retrieve Wike’s call data this week over Rivers rerun saga

The Police team, currently investigating some emerging issues during the rerun elections in Rivers State on December 10, will this week write telecommunication firms for the call data of Governor Nyesom Wike, according to Punch reports.

Wike, in alleged telephone calls before the rerun polls in the state, instructed some electoral officials and other aides to rig the election.

An audio clip, alleged to be the recording of such conversation, has since been released, where a voice, said to belong to Wike, issued various directives, including a death threat.

Buhari orders Attorney General to probe SGF, others over corruption allegation

Following the allegation of corruption levelled against Mr. Babachir Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to probe all top government officials accused of corruption.

Suspect narrates how he duped 33 men on Instagram pretending to be a lady

Falope Oluwole Israel, a 22–year old suspect arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command, has disclosed that he duped over 33 men while pretending to be a lady on Instagram.

Falope it was revealed, was arrested when officials of the RRS decoy team, who had been monitoring him for some weeks, trailed him to a popular club in Ikeja City Mall on Thursday evening, before arresting him.

The officers were reported to have monitored him, and those that he was interacting with at the club before arresting him and a colleague late in the night.
