Supervisor arraign for stealing N4.5m belonging to Company

A 30-year-old supervisor with Mutual Benefits Assurance Plc, Emmanuel Peters, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court for the alleged theft of N4.5m.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Peters, who lived on Ojelade Street, Jibowu, was employed as a supervisor by the company in 2013.

He was alleged to have collected N4.5m from some clients between 2014 and 2016, without remitting the money into the company’s account.

According to reports, the suspect fled with the money after the fraud was uncovered, just as the case was reported to the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan.

Police set to retrieve Wike’s call data this week over Rivers rerun saga

The Police team, currently investigating some emerging issues during the rerun elections in Rivers State on December 10, will this week write telecommunication firms for the call data of Governor Nyesom Wike, according to Punch reports.

Wike, in alleged telephone calls before the rerun polls in the state, instructed some electoral officials and other aides to rig the election.

An audio clip, alleged to be the recording of such conversation, has since been released, where a voice, said to belong to Wike, issued various directives, including a death threat.

Buhari orders Attorney General to probe SGF, others over corruption allegation

Following the allegation of corruption levelled against Mr. Babachir Lawal, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), to probe all top government officials accused of corruption.

Suspect narrates how he duped 33 men on Instagram pretending to be a lady

Falope Oluwole Israel, a 22–year old suspect arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos State Police Command, has disclosed that he duped over 33 men while pretending to be a lady on Instagram.

Falope it was revealed, was arrested when officials of the RRS decoy team, who had been monitoring him for some weeks, trailed him to a popular club in Ikeja City Mall on Thursday evening, before arresting him.

The officers were reported to have monitored him, and those that he was interacting with at the club before arresting him and a colleague late in the night.

Former President GEJ says nobody forced him to concede defeat in 2015 election

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has said that nobody, whether within the country or outside the country, persuaded nor forced him to concede defeat in the 2015 elections that got President Muhammadu Buhari to power. 

The former President said, instead, his decision to concede was borne out of his personal principles and convictions that his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian.

Dr. Jonathan gave the statement in a speech, Saturday, at Birmingham University, Nasarawa state, where he was conferred with honourary doctorate degree alongside former military Head of state, Yakubu Gowon. Jonathan also said that his reason for conveying the 2014 National Conference was to come up with a polity that will bring unity in the country as well ensure a country devoid of tension and crisis. ‘’It is my belief that no one’s political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. 

Former Gov., Orji Uzor Kalu visits IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu in prison

Former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, on Friday, paid a visit to the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, where he said the latter did not deserve to be in detention.

Kalu, who recently defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, posted a picture he had taken with Kanu during his visit to Kuje Prison.

President Buhari's 74th birthday celebration (VIDEO)

President Muhammadu Buhari today clocked 74 years old and marked his birthday anniversary with a special parade at the Presidential Villa, Abuja and inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by the Nigerian Army.

He was born on 17 December 1942 in Daura, Katsina State.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that President Buhari also cut a birthday cake and released 74 pigeons from a cage as part of the activities marking the anniversary.
