GEJ, Atiku and Dogara's happy birthday message to President Buhari

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Yakubu Dogara, and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar have all sent birthday messages to the president.

In a statement by his Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze, Jonathan said:

On the occasion of your 74th birthday, I write to congratulate and felicitate with you. I pray that this day meets you well and that there shall be many happy returns.

President Buhari's 74th birthday celebration (VIDEO)

President Muhammadu Buhari today clocked 74 years old and marked his birthday anniversary with a special parade at the Presidential Villa, Abuja and inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by the Nigerian Army.

He was born on 17 December 1942 in Daura, Katsina State.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that President Buhari also cut a birthday cake and released 74 pigeons from a cage as part of the activities marking the anniversary.

Buhari calls for review of Treaty as he hosts ECOWAS leaders in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has stressed the need to review the ECOWAS Treaty in order to make the regional organisation more responsive to new national, regional and global challenges.

The president made the call at the opening of the 50th Ordinary Session of the Authority and Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, held in Abuja on Saturday.

He also called for the speedy conclusion of the reforms of all ECOWAS institutions to put ECOWAS on a much stronger footing and to prepare member nations for the challenges of such Institutional reforms.

The Ebonyi Police Command has confirmed the crushing of a skater by an articulated vehicle in Abakaliki, on Friday evening.

Mr Jude Madu, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the accident on Saturday, noting that investigations into it had begun.

According to him, the deceased had been identified and more information on the accident would be released next week.

Norway has donated a sum of N3.6bn to girls and women who have been victims of Boko Haram in northeast states.

So as it seems, President Muhammadu Buhari and Pope Francis are birthday mate. Buhari today sent his congratulatory message to Pope Francis as he turns 80 on December 17.

The congratulatory message is contained in a statement issued by the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Friday.

The President joined the Roman Catholic Church in particular, and Christendom in general in celebrating this milestone in the life of the Pontiff.
