See Five other Ponzi schemes ruling Nigeria


While the Federal Government, financial institutions, and anti-graft agencies have warned Nigerians against investing in the money doubling schemes, millions of Nigerians think this is a new way to survive and make quick cool cash.

For now, the two most popular money doubling schemes are Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox popularly called MMM and Ultimate Cycler.

Recall that MMM recently froze monies in the scheme for a month while Ultimate Cycler’s website recently crashed and since its return, has not been able to pair participants up.

Facebook engages fact checkers to combat and bury fake news


Facebook is going to start fact checking, labeling, and burying fake news and hoaxes in the News Feed, the company announced on Thursday.

The decision comes after Facebook received heated criticism for its role in spreading a deluge of political misinformation during the U.S. presidential election, like one story that falsely said the Pope had endorsed Donald Trump.

To combat fake news, Facebook has partnered with a shortlist of media organizations, including Snopes and ABC News, that are part of an international fact-checking network led by Poynter, a nonprofit school for journalism located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Following the aborted show where Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun aka Wizkid was slated to perform, organizers of the would-be Uganda’s first-of-its-kind concert have convinced court to issue a warrant of arrest against the singer and his manager Sunday Are, the Investigator exclusively report.

Top of the reasons for the cancellation of the planned concert was due to health concerns. Wizkid in a series of tweets apologized for annulling concerts he was billed to perform in December and January as advised by his doctors.

YouTube shut down North Korean government's channel


North Korea can no longer broadcast itself on YouTube as Google-owned video giant has taken down North Korea's state television channel, which was home to everything from nuclear test videos to addresses from leader Kim Jong-un.

It's unclear as to precisely when and why YouTube blocked the channel. However, some suggest it was a reaction to the Treasury Department's sanctions banning U.S companies and citizens from doing business with North Korea's Propaganda and Agitation Department.

The dealer, Semiu and Egbegbe had met briefly on  December 9, 2015, at a MultiChoice outlet opened by the latter two days earlier at Uncle Joe Bus Stop at Mokola area, Ibadan.

About 9 am on that day; the dealer told SaharaReporters, a man he had never met walked into the outlet requesting to buy two GOtv decoders. 

The prospective customer, added the dealer, said he was expecting a friend of his to bring money with which he would pay for the decoders.

Shortly after his arrival, another man arrived wearing jellabiya, the long robe favored by Muslim men, and gave the prospective customer some money.

Nigerian soldiers attached to “Operation Lafiya Dole” in the northeast on Thursday thwarted an attempt by a female victim of Boko Haram to launch a suicide bomb attack, Premium Times reports.

The incident occurred at Rann, in Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State, military sources familiar with the development said.

According to Premium Times,  the suspect is a girl who had been kidnapped before by Boko Haram.

APC blasts Okorocha for attacking Buhari’s minister‎, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu


Acting Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Ebonyi State chapter, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze, has slammed Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State over a recent statement credited to him where he attacked Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology.

The party described Okorocha’s utterance as noisy rantings and insult of the highest order.

Obama to Putin: We'll retaliate over US election hacks


President Barack Obama on Thursday vowed retaliatory action against Russia for its meddling in the U.S. presidential election, pointing to the probable that President Vladimir Putin personally authorised it.
“I think there is no doubt that when any foreign government tries to impact the integrity of our elections that we need to take action and we will at a time and place of our own choosing,” Obama said in an interview scheduled to air on Friday on National Public Radio, according to CNN.

A family, whose son was shot dead in Ojuelegba, Lagos, on his 24th birthday, has cried out to police for justice against the assailants who gruesomely murdered their child.
