After 22-years of Ruling, Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh concedes defeat


President Yahya Jammeh, who has ruled The Gambia for 22 years, has conceded defeat to opposition leader Adama Barrow, the chairman of the independent electoral commission said Friday.
“It’s really unique that someone who has been ruling this country for so long has accepted defeat,” Alieu Momar Njie told reporters ahead of the release of the results of Thursday’s presidential election.

When I hear the wailing of mothers and fathers whose children, whether they be Shiite Muslims, Biafrans or northern Christians, have been butchered by the military or any of the other agents of our King and state, it kindles the spirit of the Man of War that resides in me.

JUST IN: Federal Court orders immediate release of Shiites leader, El-Zakzaky


The Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the unconditional release of Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, leader of Shiite sect in Nigeria, and his wife, Malama Zeatudden, from detention,  within 45 days.

The court also ordered the Federal Government to provide a new accommodation for El-Zakzaky in Zaria or any northern town of his choice.

The court, presided by Justice Gabriel Kolawole, also awarded El-Zakzaky and his wife N50 million as general damages.

Lagos State | FRSC Official Accused Of Harassing Female Motorist (Photos)


A Twitter user, @opichizzie, has taken to the social media platform to accuse an FRSC official of assaulting her while she was driving along Airport road, Lagos.

She claims the official thought she did not have a valid drivers license and attacked her even before asking for it, before passersby intervened.

Amazing! SS3 Student invents motorcycle


Mr Mukhtar Jawad, an SS3 student of Community Staff Schools Asokoro, Abuja, has built a motor-bike prototype ready for commercialisation. Jawad, who is an art student, told newsmen on Thursday that he invented the motorcycle to ease mode of transportation in Nigeria and Africa at large.

According to him, he has been riding the prototype as a mode of transportation from his house to the school for more than three months without any problems.

He pleaded with the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders to promote his made-in-Nigeria motorcycle for mass production for better means of transportation in the country. “I like things that involve mechanical, assemble and dissemble. This made me perceived I can do something different to better the means for transportation. “My motor-bike has features that are partly bicycle and partly motorcycle, “ he said. The principal of the school, Mr Sa’idu Ahmed said that it was a thing of joy for such one of the art students to use his talent for such a discovery.

#Chapecoense Airplane ran out of fuel before crashing


The plane that crashed in Colombia’s Medellin killing 71 people on board including members of the Brazillian football team, Chapecoense, ran out of fuel moments before it crashed on Tuesday November 29th.

Court denies IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu bail


A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday dismissed the bail applications filed by leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and three others with whom he is being prosecuted by the Federal Government for offences including treasonable felony and an act preparatory to act of terrorism.

Justice Binta Nyako, ruling on the applications filed by the four defendants, held that they were not deserving as most of the charges preferred against were “ordinarily not bailable”.

Earlier, Justice John Tsoho, who was handling the case before Kanu accused him of bias, had earlier refused to grant bail to the accused persons.

Drug trafficking suspect says he needed money for honeymoon


Two men were Wednesday arrested by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for unlawfully importing 6.390kg of substances that tested positive for heroin.

The duo, a commercial tricycle rider in Owerri, Imo State, Egwin Chinedu, 32, and an Abuja-based trader, King Sunday, 38, were nabbed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos, with an estimated street value of N575 million drug which was hidden in their luggage.

Kanye West has checked out of the hospital after being admitted with exhaustion after canceling his remaining tour dates last week.

The rapper and clothes designer left the UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday, according to CNN, who reported he had been under observation since 22 November.

Super Falcons escape accident after aircraft emits smoke


Five members of the Super Falcons participating at the on-going African Women’s Nations Cup in Cameroon were forced to travel by road from Douala to Yaoundé yesterday, as the aircraft in which they were supposed to fly developed electrical fault shortly before take off.

The team, which defeated the Banyana Banyana of South Africa 1-0 to qualify for the final of the championship, had left their Parliamentarian Flat hotel in Buea at 6.00 a.m. and arrived in Douala for their flight to Yaoundé. They were scheduled to depart Douala at 9.00 a.m. for the state capital, a journey of about 45 minutes by air and about four hours by road.
