Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday said that the fight against crime and all forms of criminality would be better enhanced if efforts are geared towards embracing community policing to complement the police and other law enforcement agencies.

Ambode, who stated this at the swearing-in ceremony of the Chairman and members of the Board of the State’s, said community policing was needed to assist law enforcement agencies who, according to him, are already over stretched judging by the enormous task of securing the country.

Rivers State Governor , Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) has handed over original copies of result sheets to the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi for the planned rigging of the December 10 rerun elections .

Flagging off the construction of the Ulakwo II-Afara--Nihi in Etche Local Government Area on Wednesday ,Governor Wike noted that the Minister of Transportation , Rotimi Amaechi made the disclosure on Tuesday in Abuja during a meeting of Rivers APC leaders.

The Rivers State Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) incharge of medical, Dr. Emmanuel Eze has been accused of assaulting a Lagos pastor, Johnson Dominic over land dispute. Dominic, the pastor in charge of New Jerusalem Parish of the Celestial Church of God, Ogunse, Onosa Avenue, Ibeju Lekki, is currently being treated at a hospital in Jakande following the alleged attack.

Speaking from his hospital bed Wednesday, Dominic alleged that the ACP and four of his men stormed his premises in Monday and dragged him on the floor.

According to him, he was beaten to a pulp because he refused to relinquish the plot of land he bought from the ACP at N1.2 million without a refund of his money.

Chief Olusola Oke, Ondo AD gubernatorial candidate, was attacked again yesterday, this time in Ondo town. According to reports, the governorship aspirant was heading to Akure from Oke Igbo where he had gone fo a final campaign ahead of the election on Saturday.

Many were injured but for the timely intervention of the security agencies, it would have escalated.

Notorious Armed Robber Apprehended After Robbing Female Victim In Port-Harcourt (Photos)


A notorious gang leader identified as Felix Ezidor was apprehended by the youths of Sekeni - Ama Community of Port Harcourt Aborigines by Bathurst Street Old Port-Harcourt town. The thief reportedly robbed a female victim as he collected a phone and hand bag belonging to one miss Hannah Gerald, a young lady who lived in the area. The robber was beaten mercilessly by the crowd before he was handed over to the police.

Osun State | Two suspected members of Aiye Confraternity arraigned over Murder


The police on Wednesday arraigned two suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity for murder before a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State. The prosecutor, Mr. Mereti Wilson, told the court that the accused – Adebayo Saheed and Razaki Jamiu – killed Shina Akinwale and Adekunle Badmus and also inflicted injuries on one Aderemi Adepoju.


The prosecutor said Badmus was killed on the football field of the Technical School, Osogbo, while Akinwale was killed in the Oke Oniti area.

Teenager Dies After Jumping Into Canal 'To Try And Overcome His Fear Of Water'


A teenager died after jumping into a canal with his friends in a bid to overcome his fear of water, his mum has revealed at an inquest into the tragedy. Flavio Rafael Pizarro, 13 - known to friends and family as Rafael - died in hospital nine days after being pulled from the canal.

The teenager gave the gift of life by donating his organs , with the permission of his family and doctors.

Shocking photos have revealed the damage to a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane caused by a bird strike. A passenger on the tarmac spotted a gaping hole in the Airbus A333’s left wing and on closer inspection staff discovered a dead bird - seemingly an eagle - embedded in the aircraft.

The passenger jet had landed at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, from Dammam on the east coast of the country, reportedly without incident.

Gov Fayose says postponing Ondo election best option


Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has reiterated the call by the Peoples’ Democratic Party for the postponement of the Ondo governorship election.

Reacting to the victory of the party’s candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, at the Court of Appeal on Wednesday, Fayose told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that the electoral body should postpone the election as it did recently in Edo.

He said that the victory of Jegede as the PDP candidate in the Saturday election was not in favour of the party to win the poll.

Morocco walks out of Arab-Africa summit, other Arab countries follow suit in support


9 Arab countries, including Morocco, have pulled out from the 4th Arab-African Summit in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), in protest against the participation of the so-called Desert Polisario separatist delegation.

The countries that withdrew from the summit in solidarity with Morocco are Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Yemen and Somalia.

Others are also expected to follow suit according to Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Hillary Clinton's popular votes lead passes the 2 million mark


Hillary Clinton's margin in the popular vote against President-elect Donald Trump has surpassed 2 million, furthering the record for a candidate who lost in the Electoral College.

Thanks to votes still being counted in California and other western areas, Clinton's vote advantage hit the 2 million mark on Wednesday morning, according to Dave Wasserman of the Cook Political Report.

As of mid-day, Wednesday, Wasserman's spreadsheet had Clinton at 64,225,863 votes to Trump's 62,210,612.

Academic activities suspended at YABATECH after hostel fire outbreak


Following the unfortunate fire incident at the Bakassi Hostel, at the Yaba College of Technology, Yabatech, early Wednesday morning, the Management has suspended all academic activities till further notice.
