Atiku Abubakar pleads with ASUU to shelve strike

Ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities to suspend its strike action and embrace negotiation with the government.

The university lecturers had on Wednesday commenced a one-week strike over the failure by the Federal Government to implement the 2009 Agreement and 2013 Memorandum of Understanding.

Speaking during his 70th birthday celebration in Yola on Thursday, Atiku said his concern was about the children who would be out of school while calling on the union to shelve the strike action.

The incident happened at Gabriel Bell close, Bamishile Estate in Idimu where the church was located.

Onu was arrested with her daughter, Alice who signed the agreement and handed over the Jeep to Prophet Orimisan after she obtained a token sum of N500,000 in exchange for the vehicle.

However, reprieve came his way when he was discharged and acquitted of the crime by the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal on July 12, 2013.

Lagos State | Outrage over man murdered at Oshodi market

The buildings and environs of the Methodist Church Nigeria Plaza, Oshodi, opposite the demolished Owonifari market were at a standstill Friday when a young man was clobbered to death.

The victim, the late Cheta Ewi, 24, sold and repaired games and downloads prior to his death.

He was said to be the only son and had no family in Lagos.

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have destroyed two thousand three hundred and seventeen bags of cannabis weighing 30,992kgs.

Sixty seven bags were also transferred to Osun State Command of the NDLEA as exhibits for further investigation.

The cannabis will also serve as evidence against eleven suspected farmers arrested during operation inside cannabis plantation.
