Fani-Kayode says Donald Trump will stop Buhari’s Islamic agenda


While congratulating the United States President-elect, Donald Trump, a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, says the incoming world leader would help to curb President Muhammadu Buhari’s Islamic agenda.

He said Trump would team up with Russian President, Vladmir Putin; and Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Nethanyahu, to curb terrorism worldwide.

Fani-Kayode narrates how suspected Boko Haram members protected him in prison


A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, says he was protected by Boko Haram suspects during his four-day detention at Kuje Prison.

Fani-Kayode said this in an article titled, ‘Head bloodied but not bowed and the ascension of President-Elect Donald Trump’ on Wednesday.

The ex-minister said he spent over two weeks in the underground cell of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission without being interrogated.

Presidency says Niger Delta militants frustrating government’s dialogue option


The Presidency has regretted that despite the Federal Government’s good faith in pursuing dialogue with the Niger Delta stakeholders, the militant groups have not reciprocated the government’s good gesture in finding a peaceful and lasting solution to the crisis in the oil-producing areas of Nigeria.

According to a statement on Wednesday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said this in an interview he granted a Kano-based radio station, Express Radio.

EFCC re-arraigns Rickey Tarfa


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Wednesday re-arraigned Rickey Tarfa (SAN), on an amended charge of offering of gratification to public officers.

The commission had on March 10, brought Tarfa before an Igbosere High Court, Lagos, on a 27-count of willful obstruction of its authorised officers, refusal to declare assets, making false information and offering gratification to a public official.

Former NSA, Dasuki’s corruption trial adjourned to December


The trial of Sambo Dasuki and others was adjourned till December 7 for further hearing following a concession agreed upon by all the counsel concerned.

The trial which came up at an FCT High Court, Maitama, before Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf could not go on.

However, all counsel had a chambers meeting with the judge and agreed on the date. All the defendants were in court except Mr. Dasuki.

Atiku Abubakar: "Boko Haram Can’t Exist If I Were President"


Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the Turaki Adamawa has declared that if he were the president of Nigeria, the Boko Haram insurgency would not take place in the country.

Abubakar made this known in Yola yesterday while speaking at the distribution of relief materials to over 50,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at American University of Nigeria (AUN) drawn from all over IDPs camps across the the state to commemorate his 70th birthday celebrations.

IDPs fight over relief materials in Abuja Camp


Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in a camp in Abuja on Tuesday disrupted the distribution of relief materials by the Red Cross Society. During the exercise, a crowd of impatient IDPs grabbed materials being distributed by aid workers which led to a free for all.

The acting Secretary General of the Red Cross, Mr Andronicus Adeyemo, said that the relief materials were targeted at addressing the rising cases of malaria in the camp.

Maritime University Bill Pass Second Reading Despite Rotimi Amaechi's complaint


The bill for the establishment of Nigerian Maritime University at Okerenkoko in Delta State, on Wednesday, scaled second reading at the Senate, months after Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, announced the scrapping of the project.

The bill sponsored by James Manager (PDP-Delta) was unanimously supported by the senators after the mover’s lead debate, making case for the establishment of the university.

Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Martins Jackson have been charged with assault and kidnapping following a video showing the two men forcing a black man into a coffin while threatening to put a snake and petrol inside the casket as well.
"They were accusing me of trespassing. They beat me up and forced me into the coffin," said Victor Rethabile, the victim. The two white men were remanded to prison until the postponed case date on January 25.

A 30-year-old man, Muhammad Adamu, has allegedly stabbed his father to death in Mairakumi village in Malammadori Local Government Area of Jigawa. The suspect, who is said to be a psychiatric patient, stabbed his 60-year-old father, Malam Adamu, while working on his farm.

According to an eyewitness account, the suspect was infuriated by the reluctance of the deceased to give him food.

Three Brothers Convert To Islam In Imo State (Photos)


A report making the rounds online has it that three brothers of the same parents from Chokoneze in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State, accepted Islam 2 days ago. 

Their names were also changed after the change of religion; Chinonso now Hassan, Chika now Musa. Chibuzor now Abdulrahman. They are now in an Islamic school in Kaduna state to have basic Islamic education.

Lagos accident kills four, burnt six vehicles


At least four men were on Wednesday killed and six vehicles razed in an early morning accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The accident which occurred around 3:00am, was said to have been caused by a diesel tanker, which lost control and rammed into a truck carrying beer, resulting to an inferno.

It driver, while on high speed, abruptly applied brakes before ramming onto the beer laden truck at Kara Bus Stop, Isheri Osun.

Pastor who allegedly impregnated 17-year-old girl remanded in prison


An Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 48-year-old pastor, Micheal Adeniran, in prison custody for allegedly impregnating a teenager.

The magistrate, Mrs Oriyomi Sofowora, ordered that the accused be remanded for the facts of the case to be stated.

She then adjourned the case till Nov.30.
