Residents in a Chinese city seemed excited when a heat pipe suddenly burst, causing the street to be flooded with hot water. They flocked to boil eggs, wash their faces and clean vehicles in the streams.

The bizarre incident occurred at the crossroads of Duling Jie and Xili Road in Zhengzhou, central China's Henan Province.

The deputy governor who was passing by in his convoy encountered a bitter exchange between the tanker drivers and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps. 

The tanker driver who identified himself as 'Nnamdi' from Delta State, allegedly sprinkled a sachet water on a top agent of the government of Imo State and the security details of the official flagged them down to stop but they refused.

Trump said at a September 17, 2015, event in Rochester, New Hampshire: 'The first thing I'm going to do is tell you that if I'm elected president, I'm accepting no salary, okay? That's not a big deal for me.'

Military Sources Says "Boko Haram Used Chibok Ransom To Buy Powerful Weapons"


According to new reports making rounds, the recent ransom paid to Boko Haram in exchange for the release of some Chibok girls have contributed to the recent upsurge in the killings and disappearances of soldiers engaged in the fight against the insurgents, senior military sources have revealed.

The military men told Saturday Punch that despite denials by the Federal Government, money was paid to the sect to secure the release of the abducted girls. It was learnt that the insurgents demanded $50m for the release of the girls but about a quarter of the sum were eventually paid.

EFCC Arraigns Two Over $1million Fraud Scandal


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Friday, arraigned Sada Adamu and Babatunde Faro at the Federal High Court Maitama in Abuja over charges of money laundering, false declaration of assets and fraud, to the tune of one million dollars.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, Head of Media & Publicity of EFCC and made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja on Friday.

Felix Agandi, a fresh graduate of Osun State Polytechnic, has died after he reportedly screamed from his sleep few days after he defended his undergraduate project.

The deceased, who is said to be an orphan, had struggled to finance his education from the beginning to the end of his National Diploma programme.

The 27-year-old student was dropped at his residence by his friend on Monday night, after which his scream woke neighbors up who rushed him to the hospital. But he was reportedly certified dead inside the car before he got to the hospital on Tuesday morning.

Fashola Says Current Recession Has Been Growing For Three Years


Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of Power, Works, And Housing, said on Friday night that the prescription for a recession in Nigeria had been in place for more than three years.

Fashola, accompanied by the Minister of State in the Ministry, Mustapha Shehuri, and its top officials, spoke at a media briefing to commemorate his first year in office.

He noted that when workers were being retrenched and the purchasing power of an average citizen eroded, as had been the case since 2013, these were obvious signs of recession.

Bitter delegates set man ablaze in PDP Abia primaries


A man identified as Onyemaechi was burnt alive during an outbreak of violence at the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia state.

Ogbonnaya Nta, the spokesman of the Abia state police command, confirmed the incident to NAN, but did not give details of how Onyemachi was killed.

Nta said the deceased was a member of the staff of Isialangwa north local government, venue of the election.

Resident doctors attached to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State last week protested over unpaid four months salaries owed them by the Federal Government, threatening to withdraw medical services to patients on November 15.

The protesting doctors, under the Association of Resident Doctors said though they have met the management of the Federal Medical Centre over the issue, the responses were not encouraging.

The aggrieved resident doctors led by their Chairman, Dr. Nonso Okoye, and armed with placards some of which reads “Our Families are hungry”, FG pay our salaries” and “we are hungry, MMM is becoming an option”‎, called on Nigerians to prevail on the Federal Government to pay up salaries owed them.

Governor Wike sacks special adviser on Protocol


The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has sacked his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Protocol, Sir Joe Akpa.

Wike, through his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, Friday in Port Harcourt, wished Akpa well in his future endeavours.

No reason was given for the sack of the top aide by Wike, a lawyer and former Minister of State for Education, but investigation revealed that Akpa was suddenly relieved of his appointment in view of a minor breach of protocol.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, has assured Nigerians that the security challenges in the Niger Delta will soon be resolved.

Kachikwu gave the assurance in Abuja on Friday in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr Idang Alibi.

The minister, according to the statement, observed that three attacks had taken place in the last two weeks, including Wednesday’s Forcados bombing, in spite of efforts being made to promote peace in the region.

A dog owner has been jailed for feeding his pet painkillers before beating the animal to death with a shovel.

Graham Williams, 60, tried to kill his German Shepherd called Yarna with aspirin and paracetamol because she was suffering from a melon-size tumour.

Mom kicked out 8-year-old son for voting Trump at school


This child came back home to meet his suitcase waiting for him after he told his mom he voted for Donald Trump at school.

The mom gave him a placard and sent the crying boy outside the house.

Nine Feared Dead In Fatal Vehicle Accident Along Enugu Expressway


No fewer than nine persons including two females were feared dead in an auto crash which occurred along the busy Enugu/Nsukka Expressway by 9th mile corner, Enugu.

The vehicle, Nissan bus with registration number NUJ 3 conveying passengers and driven by one Adams Awudu, was said to have had break failure while descending a hill close to 9th mile corner Ngwo.

Five NAHCO Staff Charge With Drug Smuggling At Abuja Airport By NDLEA


The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed charges against officials of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) at the Federal High Court, Abuja over an attempt to smuggle 144kg of ephedrine to Maputo, Mozambique.

The anti-narcotics agency said in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju, that the foiled effort took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
