Gen Abayomi Says Armed Forces Will Defend The Sanctity Of Nigeria Despite Challenges

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin has reiterated the commitment and the determination of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to protect the sanctity of the nation despite the challenges it is facing.

General Olonisakin made this known Tuesday when the Senate Committee on Defence visited the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on oversight assignment.

Three female suicide bombers who were trying to attack Maiduguri were intercepted by gallant soldiers this morning in Borno state. 

The soldiers who were on guard at Umarari-Molai outskirts of Maiduguri said they identified the attackers at about 5 am while trying to gain access to Maiduguri; one was shot and wounded while two others immediately detonated IEDs wrapped around their bodies.

A local security team, Igbogene Vigilance Community, Yenagoa Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, arrested a father of two for allegedly stealing a pot of soup, 12 wraps of fufu and half basin of garri flour.

The 35-year-old, who was identified as Kaduna Enatimi, was said to be an indigene of Akassa community, Brass Local Government Area of the state.

The Head of the vigilance group, Chief MoneySweet Asomo, said the suspect was nabbed at about 2am while he was consuming the stolen food at a local shop in the area.

Unknown Gunmen fire shots at James Faleke’s vehicle

House of Representatives member James Faleke escaped death after the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) conveying him from Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, to Abuja, was shot at by unknown assailants, The Nation reports.

Faleke disclosed this himself in a report he lodged at the Gwagwalada Police Division on the outskirt of the Federal Capital City (FCT).

According to the report, the lawmaker was attacked between 7pm and 7.30pm on Sunday, November 6.
