Federal Government orders Heads of Agencies to fly only Economy Class

The Federal Government has directed all its director-general, managing directors and executive secretaries to start flying economy class on all local and international flights.

The latest circular, dated November 2, 2016 and published by TheCable, read: “In view of the ensuing budgetary and fiscal challenges faced by the Federal Government arising from low oil revenue, it has become necessary to review the Guidelines for Local and International Travels as provided for in Circular Ref. No. SGF. 6/S.2/X/545 of 31st March, 2016 with a view to further prune recurrent expenses on travels and tours.

Recession: Zenith Bank Sacks Over 1,200 Employees In Nigeria

Employees of Zenith Bank PLC, one of Nigeria’s leading new generation banks, were hit with a sad news today as over 1,200 were sacked on Tuesday, Premium Times reports.

Although a source said about 240 people were sacked, including eight General Managers and 40 Assistant General Managers, it is likely that more than that number of people were dismissed.

Governor Yahaya Bello Heads To Germany From Dubai For Eye Surgery

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has been admitted to a hospital in Germany for eye surgery. The Governor was in Dubai en-route Germany for the operation, which is expected to correct an eye ailment that had been troubling him for some time.

Punch quoted a senior official in the state as saying that Bello travelled with some close aides and officials for the surgery.

It was gathered that the state Commissioner for Works, Land and Housing, Abdulmumini Sadiq, who earlier travelled with Bello, returned to Lokoja, the state capital, a few days ago to run some errands for the governor.

Suspended Lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin Vows Never To Return To Nigeria

CAN calls for justice over woman killed on alleged blasphemy

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the Kano State government and the inspector general of Police to bring to book those responsible for the alleged killing of a Christian woman in the city.

CAN said it was deeply sad by the news of the “release without trial of the five suspects accused of killing a 74-year-old Christian woman in Kano, Mrs Bridget Agbahime”.

She was murdered sometime in June.
