Luis Suarez to join Ajax

Luis Suarez has suggested that he would be open to a return to Ajax if he ever feels he is no longer good enough to play for Barcelona.

The Uruguay international enjoyed a successful spell with Ajax between 2007 and 2011 after joining the Amsterdam side from Groningen and vowed upon his transfer to Liverpool that he would one day return to the Amsterdam ArenA.

Suarez seemed to rule out a move back to Ajax when he stated that he aims to retire at Barcelona, but he has now hinted that a return could still be on the cards.

A woman teacher faces more than 200 sex charges involving two pupils. Randi Lynn Zurenko, 33, was arrested and suspended from the mixed private Catholic school. The students have been identified only as “Victims 1 and 2” and their ages have not been revealed.

One of the alleged victims is a girl, the gender of the other is unknown.

Zurenko is said to have began a relationship in January 2013 with the first one, who graduated later the same year. The pair went to a park where Zurenko massaged the girl’s back and undid her bra, said police.

Fani-Kayode, who was in court for his trial over an alleged fraud of ‎N4.9bn, was re-arrested shortly after he stepped out of the court premises.

A pregnant woman, Mrs. Afusat Kazeem was on Friday morning stabbed to death after being raped at her Ikorodu, Lagos residence. At least three people were killed and others were injured when a packed passenger train traveling between Cameroon's capital, Yaounde, and the port city of Douala derailed and overturned on Friday, witnesses said.

Osinbajo urges Varsities to support Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged universities and other tertiary institutions in the country to key into the anti-corruption crusade of the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The Inspector-General of Police (I-G), Ibrahim Idris, has assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force is ever ready and more determined to ensure that all those who engage in vicious crimes do not escape justice.

A statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Don Awunah, said the I-G listed the crimes as: kidnappings, armed robbery and other criminal activities.

Emir Sanusi said this in an interview with a media house in his recent visit to Washington DC, fiscal and monetary policy.

He said with the purchasing power parity, nominal exchange rate and the current rate of inflation, the value of naira at 300 is still slightly undervalued.

Neymar pens new five-year deal with Barcelona

Barcelona striker Neymar has signed a new five-year contract, keeping him at the Nou Camp until 2021.

Kaduna Government allocates N4 billion for light rail project

The Kaduna State Government has earmarked over N4 billion for the Kaduna Metropolitan Rapid Rail Transport project to begin in 2017.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the amount is part of the N24.06 billion provided for projects under the State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport in the 2017 budget.

Governor Nasiru El-Rufa’i had on Wednesday, October 12, presented an appropriation bill of over N215.9 billion to the State House of Assembly for approval.
