NAFDAC workers commence warning strike

The lingering management/staff crisis that has threatened the peace of National Foods, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) took another dimension on Wednesday as members of the institution’s union declared a two-week warning strike over what they called management’s deaf ear to their plight.

The placard-carrying unionists who stormed the NAFDAC Headquarters on at Afprint Area of the Oshodi/Apapa Expressway brought activity to a halt as motorists and passers-by on the road got interested in the solidarity of the activists.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday regretted that the 21 Chibok girls who were released from the captivity of Boko Haram insurgents last Thursday had seen the worst the world had to offer.

He said it was now time for them to experience the best that the world could offer them.

Buhari spoke while receiving the released girls and their parents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

“These dear daughters of ours have seen the worst that the world has to offer. It is now time for them to experience the best that the world can do for them. The government and all Nigerians must encourage them to achieve their desired ambitions,” the President said.

Emmanuel Emenike Escape Plane Crash with Fenerbahce Teammate

A plane carrying former Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Emenike and his Fenerbahce teammates to Manchester on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game against Manchester United was forced to make an emergency landing because a bird shattered the windscreen.

Fenerbahce, however, announced that there was “nothing alarming” about the incident.

Kaduna State | Government denies placing ban on Shi’ites

The Kaduna State Government said on Wednesday that it had not placed any ban on Shi’a Muslims in the state.

Mr Samuel Aruwan, the government spokesman, said at a news briefing in Kaduna, that what the government did, was to declare the operation of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria illegal, as the group was not registered.

“Islamic Movement in Nigeria was never a registered organisation and it refuses to conduct itself with full adherence to the laws of Kaduna State.”

The police in Lagos State have arrested a man, identified only as Nathaniel, for allegedly drugging and raping his 14-year-old housemaid in the Ikotun area of the state.

According to Punch Metro, Nathaniel, who stayed on Ajisegiri Street, in the Egbe area, was arrested by the Ikotun Police Division on Sunday.

It was gathered that the suspect allegedly lured his housemaid, Chinwe (pseudonym), with a cup of juice penultimate Monday, which contained a sedative.
