Yakubu Gowon: Nigeria Is Currently Walking In The Wilderness


Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.), has on Saturday declared that Nigeria is ‘walking in the wilderness’.

The verdict came after the former head of state reflected on Nigeria and its journey so far.

Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd.) who spoke in Abuja on Saturday during a thanksgiving service to commemorate 20th anniversary of “Nigeria Prays” however expressed optimism noting that the current trials and tribulations the country is faced with is only temporary.

The Ebonyi Police Command has confirmed the clash between its officers and soldiers from the Nigerian Army Cantonment, Nkwagu, near Abakaliki, on Saturday evening.

DSP George Okafor, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abakaliki.

However, Okafor said that the matter had been resolved amicably.

Some experts made the call in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) across the states.

A 23-old-girl is currently under Police detention for blackmailing a man who she had sex with in a hotel.

According to reports by LIB, a video clip shows faceless police interrogating a young lady arrested in Abuja has been making the rounds on social media. The lady identified as Jessica, 23, secretly filmed her married lover after a sexual encounter in a hotel and then blackmailed him for money and iPhone. Jessica threatened to send the video to her victim's wife if he did not pay N180,000. After the initial payment from the man, she went on to make another demand of N50,000.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola who was among the judges that were arrested and detained last Saturday by agents of the Department of State Security, says he was made to sign a confessional statement at the DSS office with a gun pointed at him.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ademola alleged that the sting operation carried out by DSS at his home in Abuja, was a personal vendetta against him masterminded by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

UK denied visa to Nigerian who is match to her sister who needs Leukaemia transplant


The United Kingdom is preventing a Nigerian woman from going to the aid of her England-based sister now battling leukaemia.

Leukaemia is a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leucocytes. These suppress the production of normal blood cells, leading to anaemia and other symptoms.

Doctors attending to May Brown, 23,of Weymouth in Dorset, England, at the King’s College Hospital in London have told her that her sister Martha is a “10 out of 10” tissue match.

NJC challenges DSS refuses to suspend judges


The National Judicial Council (NJC) appears to have drawn the battle line with the Department of State Security (DSS) following the agency’s recent arrest of nine judges for alleged corruption.

The council has decided against suspending six of the judges contrary to the expectation of the DSS.

The remaining three had earlier been recommended for suspension by the NJC for misconduct.

The council, The Nation, gathered yesterday is insisting on the DSS providing evidence of its allegations of corruption against the judges before any official sanction can be taken against them.

The NJC’s refusal to suspend the six serving judges is believed to be delaying their arraignment in court.
