President Buhari Wants Increase In Trade Between Nigeria And Germany


Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, is seeking an increase in trade relations between his nation and Germany.

President Buhari, who addressed a German-Nigeria Business Forum in Berlin where he was on an official visit, urged German businessmen to explore different sectors of Nigeria’s economy that had not been opened up.

He told the gathering that a new bank, Development Bank of Nigeria, would soon begin operations to strengthen the government’s economic diversification programme.

Two black mothers, including one with a baby, intervened when thugs were about to stab a teenager in a busy shopping street. The niece and her aunt took action when two youths with huge knives chased two other boys through New Cross in south London. The aunt picked up a cafe chair and lunged at one of the knifemen with all her strength, knocking him off balance as he was about to attack one of the boys.

Gunmen kidnap woman in Port Harcourt, Rivers State (PHOTOs)


According to Solomon Chijioke, who shared the photos today, a woman was kidnapped Thursday night by unknown gunmen at NDDC road by Mountain of Fire Church, Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt. They left behind her car and a young boy with her.

Private Security Operators says they can eradicate kidnappings in few months


With the increasing rate of kidnapping in Nigeria, security practitioners has thrown their hand of support to the Federal Government to help eradicate the menace.

According to report by Punch, with over five million operatives across Nigeria, security practitioners said the increasing kidnappings in the country can be eradicated within a short time, if the government collaborates with them.

The Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Mr. Davidson Akhimien, said the number of policemen securing Nigeria (about 370,000) pales in comparison to the number of private security operatives in the country.

Popular kingmaker allegedly rape sick 27-year-old girl in Kwara State


A business woman, Mrs. Florence Bamidele, has accused one of the kingmakers of Odo-Owa community in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, High Chief Bunmi Popoola, of raping her 27-year-old daughter, Joke, many times under the guise of curing her of an ailment.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that Joke, who was brought to Popoola for traditional treatment, later succumbed to the strange disease.

NNPC expands crude exploration to Gongola, others


The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has embarked on a more rigorous exploration of the Gongola and other frontier inland basins as part of efforts to shore up the oil and gas reserve base across the country.

Nigeria Inflation rate rises to 17.9% – Reports


Nigeria's inflation has risen to 17.9% as against 17.6% in the previous month, this is according to report release by National Bureau of Statistics.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, energy and energy-related prices continue to be the largest increases reflected in the core sub-index.

It stated that in September, the core sub-index increased by 17.7 per cent, up by 0.5 per cent points from rates recorded in August (17.2 per cent).

US Aviation bans Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on all flights


Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones will be banned from all airline flights after nearly 100 incidents of the devices overheating and sometimes injuring owners, the Transportation Department announced Friday.

The Federal Aviation Administration previously urged travelers not to turn on the phones, pack them in checked luggage or charge them during a flight. The new ban is effective at noon Saturday, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said.
