President Buhari lauds South Africa over Okah’s conviction


President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the South African Government to commend the country’s Supreme Court of Appeal’s judgement that confirmed the conviction of Mr. Henry Okah over terrorism charges.

The court was said to have on Monday upheld a 20-year prison term for Okah having found him guilty on two out of the six-counts relating to the Warri bombings levelled against him.


The court was also said to have affirmed a 12-year sentence for his role in the October 1, 2010 Abuja bombing.

DSS reveals Why they whisked away judges


The Department of State Services has given reasons why its operatives swept on the homes of some serving judges on Friday night.

It said the action was a follow up to what it described as an outcome of special sting operation which it said involved some judges of the Supreme, Appeal and High Courts.

Wike reveals why he blocked SSS from searching judge’s residence


Governor Nyesom Wike has explained why he intervened early Saturday as the State Security Services laid siege on the home of a federal judge in Port Harcourt.

Operatives of the SSS launched an overnight assault on the residences of senior judges across the country between Friday and Saturday in search of evidence linking the judges to corruption.

Multiple sources said the clampdown began in Gombe State where the SSS arrested Muazu Pindiga who served on the elections tribunal in Rivers State.

The operation continued in Abuja on Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Ten-month-old Emmaleigh Barringer died on Oct. 5 after allegedly being raped and beaten by her mother’s boyfriend, Benjamin Taylor, according to the West Virginia Gazette.

Since Emmaleigh’s brutal attack, Benjamin has been accused of assaulting the baby late at night on Oct. 2 or early on Oct. 3 while everyone else in the family’s home, in Jackson County, West Virginia, was asleep.

Emmaleigh’s mom, who has three other children, reportedly woke up between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. and found her baby girl naked and bleeding on her basement floor.

The leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, yesterday led workers to shut down operations at a Lebanese Firm in Abuja, Artco Industries Limited for alleged anti-labour activities and violations of labour law in the country. 

The National President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba,said that the NLC decided to picket the Lebanese company because the management refused to recall sacked 128 workers of the company despite a judgment of the Industrial Arbitration Panel and the intervention by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, on the matter.

A septuagenarian, Godwin Agbada, has blamed the devil for the alleged defilement of two girls aged 12 and 14 years in his workshop.

Agbada, who was paraded at the headquarters of the Delta State Police Command in Asaba, yesterday admitted to the offence but denied having carnal knowledge of another victim, Ebele Olise.

The 74-year-old suspect, who expressed regret over his action, added that both minors often came to his workshop to visit and that he frequently gave them money.He said he is married with five children.Asked if he could defend himself before his wife and children following his arrest, Agbada said:

How Gunmen kidnapped poultry farm owners, kill managers after N22m ransom (Photo)


On July 17, 2016, 15 men stormed two poultry farms located at Egan, Itoki area of Ikorodu, Lagos. The men who arrived in three boats got to the farms, they grabbed the owners, – Alhaji Oyebanji Wasiu and Alhaji Isiaka Owolabi along with the manager of the two farms, 43-year-old Abiodun Adeniyi.

When three suspects in the case, who are now in police custody, narrated the event that led to the kidnapping, it became clear that there was a deep-seated vengeance involved.

The kidnappers’ inside man, 24-year-old Idowu Dauwujoh, who is also one of the suspects in custody, told Punch correspondent that when he got a job as a worker on the farms, he was employed along with three other friends, Kekeminiwei, Afro and Odesebra, all Ijaw young men.

Presidency denies Freezing Ex-President Jonathan’s account


The Presidency has refuted allegation by demonstrators in Bayelsa on Thursday that allowances due to former President Goodluck Jonathan have been stopped and his bank accounts frozen.

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, said the allegation was `patently untrue’.

He stated that it was on record that all past presidents were paid their various allowances up to the second quarter of 2016.

Hurricane Matthew: Death toll in Florida rises to 4


A female resident of Putnam County died after a tree fell on her trailer during Hurricane Matthew, according to a statement from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. 

This brings the death toll in Florida to four.
“Deputies discovered that two adults were attempting to ride out the storm in the trailer when the tree fell due to high winds. The male occupant was able to escape with only minor injuries, but the female was killed. Major Crimes Detectives continue to investigate,” said the statement.
