Edo Deputy Gov-elect, Shuaibu says they will make Edo Agric exporting state


Deputy governor-elect in the just concluded governorship election in Edo State, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, has said that the incoming administration in the state will consolidate on the achievements of Governor Adams Oshiomhole and also make the state an agricultural exporting state.

Shuaibu who presently represents Etsako Federal Constituency of Edo State while speaking to journalists in Abuja, said that the Oshiomhole-led administration had done well in the state as he had laid the foundation, adding that the administration came to rescue Edo State from infrastructural decay.

Maria Sharapova’s ex-boyfriend Grigor Dimitrov on Wednesday suggested she deserved her ban from tennis for a doping offence, an incident that has sent shockwaves through the sport.
“I think tennis misses her,” the Bulgarian world number 20 said of the five-time Grand Slam champion, adding that he had “zero doubts” she would make a successful return.

Unidentified gunmen have abducted a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Rivers State, Mr. Nnamdi Abbah.

This was happening less than 24 hours after another chieftain of the party, Mr. Boris Neenwi, was assassinated in Tai Local Government Area of the state.

41-year-old Mum dies in bike crash moments after taking smiling selfie


A  mum of two died moments after taking this smiling selfie on her way home.

Carmen Greenway, 41, was cycling home after having a meal at a pub to celebrate her mum's birthday when she hit a rough patch of road and lost control.

She fractured her skull and died six days later in St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, central London, after suffering a cardiac arrest.

A US man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend with a shotgun in front of their seven-month-old daughter wrote an apology on Facebook hours before she was murdered.

Ethan Reid, 23, is charged with murder in the death of 20-year-old Kaylah Hodges, who was fatally shot at his mother's home in Scottsville, Kentucky.

Stop Shaving off Your Pubic Hair – Expert Warns


Dr Arikawe Adeolu, an Abuja-based medical expert, advised that it is safer to trim the hair rather than shaving it off completely as complete shaving can cause infection.

Adeolu told NAN on Tuesday that shaving or waxing of the hair around the pubic could cause cracks and expose the skin to bacterial infection.

He added that the pubic hair served a major purpose of providing some level of cushioning for the individual, especially during sexual activity, preventing the skin from rubbing against another and causing abrasion.

Federal government accused Shell of $406.75 million Oil theft


Shell petroleum company of Nigeria limited and its subsidiary, Shell Western Supply & Trading Limited, has been accused of Oil theft by the Federal government of Nigeria.

According to court documents presented in Lagos on Tuesday, it represents the shortfall of the money the multinational oil firm paid into the Federal government account with Central Bank of Nigeria.

The Federal Government’s lawyer, Prof. Fabia Ajogbwu, accused Shell of not declaring or under-declaring crude oil shipments during the period following forensic analysis of bills of laden and shipping documents.

Sports Minister says Private Sector Will Now Manage Lagos, Abuja Stadia


The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung, on Tuesday in Abuja, said arrangements had been concluded to engage the private sector in the management of Abuja and Lagos national stadia.

The minister, who made this known while fielding questions from State House correspondents, said the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the concession of the stadia in 2012.

He said that the concession of the facilities had become necessary in view of the fact that government could not sustain their maintenance, in addition to the fact that the Abuja stadium was being underutilised.

President Buhari allegedly refused to pay ransom for Chibok Girls


President Muhammadu Buhari reportedly turned down the chance to have the Chibok girls released after he rejected the notion of paying a ransom for the girls.

This was revealed by the author of his book; “Muhammadu Buhari: The challenges of leadership in Nigeria”, written by Prof. John Paden.

Court Voids Archaic Tradition that prevented Igbo females from Inheriting their Late Father’s Property


The Supreme Court has voided the Igbo law and custom, which forbids a female from inheriting her late father’s estate, on the grounds that it is discriminatory and conflicts with the provision of the constitution.

According to the Child Rights Awareness Creation Organisation, the court held that the practice conflicted with section 42(1)(a) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution.

Court adjourned Dasuki’s N13.6 billion corruption trial to October 21


An Abuja High Court on Wednesday adjourned retired Col. Sambo Dasuki’s case to October 21 pending the outcome of the meeting of the counsel with the FCT Chief judge, Ishaq Bello.

Mr. Dasuki, a former National Security Adviser, NSA, to former President Goodluck Jonathan is standing trial with four others for alleged diversion of N13.6 billion

The others were Shuaibu Salisu, a former Director of Finance, Office of the National Security Adviser; Aminu Baba-Kusa, a former NNPC Executive Director; Acacia Holding Limited, and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited.

Governor Ambode’s new appointee labelled as US fugitive


Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s latest appointment to head the Lagos State Safety Commission is a fugitive in the U.S. convicted of credit card fraud in 1992.

According to Premium Times, Hakeem Dickson, who worked as an internal auditor at the now defunct Nigeria Airways, was sentenced to 24 years imprisonment by a U.S. District Court in New Jersey, according to court documents published by Sahara Reporters.

Teacher arrested for alleged sexual assault of 6-yr-old pupil


A 35-year-old primary school teacher, Ndubuisi Chukwu, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged sexual assault of a six-year-old.

The accused, a resident of Kojola, Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos State, was arraigned on a one-count charge of attempt to commit rape and sexual assault by penetration.

According to the prosecutor, Lucky Ihiehie, the complainant and mother of the victim came to the Ketu Police Station in company with the victim to report the incident.

Nigeria might be out of Recession by 2017 - IMF Predicts


The International Monetary Fund has predicted that the Nigerian economy will grow by 0.6% in 2017, effectively lifting the country out of an officially declared recession.

In the IMF’s World Economic Outlook report released on Tuesday, Nigeria’s real Gross Domestic Product is expected to increase marginally by 0.6% with Consumer Prices rising by 17.1%.

Nigeria’s Current Account Balance is however forecast to slump further by 0.4% next year.

APC Crisis | Oyegun slams Tinubu, Says Ondo Guber Primaries irreversible
