Cameroons agree to pay $78,000 for treatment of Rigobert Song abroad (PHOTOS)


The 40-year-old player, who is the uncle of former Arsenal and Barcelona star Alex Song was on Monday evening flew to France via a private jet after Cameroon's government agreed to pay about $78,000 for his treatment in France.

Protests in Ethiopia after dozens of people died in Stampede (PHOTOS)


Protests broke out in some areas of Ethiopia’s Oromiya region on Monday, a day after dozens of people was killed in a stampede at a religious festival.

Witnesses said that the stampede was sparked by police trying to quell demonstrations.

Reuters reports that opposition politicians and government officials gave contrasting tolls of casualties that took place during the annual Irreecha festival in the town of Bishoftu, some 40 km (25 miles) south of the capital Addis Ababa, where police fired teargas and shots into the air to disperse protesters.

The refineries and barges were sighted by NAF Diamond 42 aircraft on Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission in Bille Community of Rivers State. Thereafter, a Mi-24V helicopter gunship was called in for the attack.

A Hluhluwe man has said he will not be able to forgive the three women who raped him. A video of the incident appeared on social media and has since gone viral. The man, whose name is known to the Daily News, said he was at home when a woman whom he knows called him over, saying she needed help with an electrical problem at her home.
“I went into her house and when I got there, I saw another girl in the room. I did not pay any attention to her. Then another girl who was hiding behind the door closed it, that’s when I realized that something was wrong.”

Police arrest suspected kidnappers of CBN Governor, Emefiele’s Wife


Six suspected members of the kidnapper gang that abducted the wife of the Central Bank Governor, Margaret Emefiele, last Thursday have reportedly been arrested.

The suspect, Odili Onyekwere, was nabbed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, during the outward screening of passengers on a Kenyan Airways flight to Ivato International Airport, Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The Nigerian stock exchange market declined by N274 billion in the month of September to N9.733 trillion from N9.760 trillion.

Investment in the market has dropped by 1.1 percent Year to Date, YtD, while the gauge of the market declined by 0.3 percent to close at 28,335.40 points from 28,419.92 points at the beginning of the trading month.

Mr. Mustapha Chike-Obi, former boss of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON said it is a liquidity issue that the market currently trades about ten million dollars’ worth of securities daily but has the capacity to do more.

88-year-old woman arrested for buying 6-year-old girl for N500,000


An 88-year old woman, identified only as Loveth, has been arrested by operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP in Edo State for allegedly abducting and selling a 6-year old girl, simply identified as Success.

The spokesman for Edo State, Mr. Nduka Nwanwene, who confirmed the incident to newsmen at the weekend, said the victim was allegedly kidnapped around Upper Sakponba in September, in Oredo Local Government Area of the state and trafficked to Onitsha, Anambra State, where the suspect purchased her for over N500,000.
