Brangelina reaches temporary divorce agreement


Hollywood power couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reached a temporary agreement over divorce terms following the initiation of a divorce process.

The couple who are in a struggle for custody of their six children has been arranged to have a temporary agreement by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services pending a court ruling on the case.

Recall that Angelina Jolie’s divorce filing had requested for sole physical custody of the kids stating that she was not comfortable with Brad Pitt’s parenting techniques.

House of Rep rejects motion to re-introduce toll gates nationwide


The House of Representatives has rejected a motion to re-introduce toll gates on roads. Rejecting the motion sponsored by Rep Francis Charles Uduyok (PDP, A/Ibom), the House said Nigerians should not be subjected to another form of hardship, especially at a time the country was in hardship.

Uduyok had in his motion said Nigerian roads were in bad conditions and that toll gates would help in maintenance and construction of interstate roads.

The Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola reveal that the Federal Government under this current administration has, so far, spent N73 billion on road projects across the country.

Fashola, disclosed this in Katsina, on Thursday, at the 22nd National Council of Works meeting.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the meeting has “Prioritisation and Optimisation of Allocated Road Infrastructure Funds” as its theme.

The chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Abdullahi Candido has condemned in strong terms the conversion of shops at the Nyanya market, Abuja into brothels, residential houses, and schools.

According to Candido, the illegal practice had contributed to hawking along the roadside, thereby making the market environment embarrassing and unhygienic.

Officials of the council discovered on Wednesday when it embarked on the evacuation of street traders at the market that several shops have been turned into residential houses, schools and “red light district” by women of easy virtue.

NDLEA arrest Man who tried to Smuggle Drugs in Noodles Packs (Photos)


Spokesman for the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mitchell Ofoyeju has revealed that the agency uncovered a plot to use dry chicken flavoured noodles to smuggle cannabis through the Akanu Ibiam International Airport (AIIA) in Enugu State on a plane to China. 

The alleged culprit, Benson Onyechi Esonwunne, was attempting to board an Ethiopian Airways flight from Nigeria to China when he convinced an innocent passenger to carry the box of packaged chicken flavoured noodles for him on the plane.

NJC fire three top judges over fraud and misconduct


Nigeria’s regulatory body for the judiciary, the National Judicial Council, has recommended the compulsory retirement of three judges following allegations of fraud and other judicial misconduct.

The judges include the Chief Judge of Enugu State, A. I. umezulike; a presiding justice at the Court of Appeal in Kwara State, Mohammed Tsamiya; and Kabiru Auta of the Kano State High Court.

They were sacked by the NJC during the council’s 78th meeting held on September 29.

27-year-old Yang Qingpei, confessed to murdering his parents after returning to his hometown Yema in China’s Yunnan Province to ask for more money, reports say.

He then went on a mass killing spree and claimed the lives of 17 villagers, including four children and one 72-year-old neighbour.

EFCC Arrests APC Chieftain for N36m Land Scam


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief Benjamin Benedict Apugo at his village, Nkata Ibeku, in Abia State.

His arrest on Friday September 30th, 2016 was sequel to a 4 July, 2016 warrant issued to that effect by a Federal High Court in Umuahia  presided over by Justice D.E. Osiagor  after the accused failed to appear before the court to take his plea on  a three count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretense brought against him by the EFCC.

He was alleged to have fraudulently sold six (6) plots of land valued at N36.000,000 (Thirty Six Million Naira Only)  belonging to the Nigeria Railway Cooperation located at Umunwulari Nkata Ibeku layout, Planning Scheme Umuahia.
